Autumn has finally rolled around again and I cannot tell you how happy I am about it. Autumn/winter fashion is my favourite as I absolutely love chunky knit jumpers, coats and boots so the fact that the weather now suits this style of clothing makes me very happy. So after thinking that I needed to get a few new pieces for my A/W wardrobe I thought that I would share with you some of the things that I am thinking of picking up soon.
Instead of a favourites post this month I thought I would do something a bit different. I have seen this style of post on other blogs and I really like reading them so I thought that today I would do my own Monthly Goals post. I am going to share with you 4 things that I would like to achieve in the month of November.
1. Finish my uni application
After deciding to reapply for university this year I am now finally getting closer to sending off my UCAS application. I really want to have this done in November so that it is done before Christmas and I feel like once it is done it will be a massive weight off of my shoulders.
2. Keep my room tidy and organised
After having a big tidy up of my room recently I really want to try and keep it looking organised and not let it get in a mess again. I really like it when it is organised but I can be lazy sometimes and at times my room becomes a bit of a floordrobe! I really want to try harder this month to keep it looking neat and tidy!
3. Read more
I used to read almost every day but recently for whatever reason I haven't made the time to read. I started a book whilst I was on holiday in September but never finished it so this month I really want to make the time in my day, even if it is just 10 minutes, so that I can try and finish this book (which is After You by Jojo Moyes).
4. Get some Christmas shopping done
December always comes around very quickly and before I know it, it is Christmas Eve and I haven't finished my Christmas shopping. This year, instead of leaving it until the last minute I want to try and get as much of my Christmas shopping done before December even begins.
As a natural red-head I have very fair eyebrows and although for years I never filled them in, in the past three years I have become a bit obsessed with filling my brows in and I love how much it changes my face. So in an attempt to have slightly more visible brows without makeup I looked into tinting my eyebrows at home and that is when I came across the Eylure Dybrow Kit in Dark Brown, a really easy way to tint your brows at home.
The kit comes with a small tube of the dye, activating solution, a small mascara wand, a plastic stick for mixing, a mixing tray and the instructions, which are really easy to follow.
To start with you need to clean your eyebrows with a non-oily cleanser and then put something like Vaseline around your eyebrows so that the dye doesn't tint your skin. Then squeeze about 2cm of the dye onto the dish and mix with 5 drops of the activating solution. Once fully mixed, apply it to your brows using the mascara wand and brush it through your brows until all of your hairs are evenly coated with the solution. Leave it on for 1-2 minutes and then clean off with a wet cotton pad and you should be left with tinted brows. Occasionally, if they don't turn out dark enough I will apply the remainder of the mixture to my brows and leave on for another 1-2 minutes.
This seems to last on me for about 4-6 weeks before I feel like I need to repeat the process again. I really like how, with this dye my brows stand out a bit more and it also makes filling them in a bit easier than when my brows are not tinted.
The process is so easy and definitely worth doing if, like me, your brows are not as dark as you would like them and you want them to be a bit more noticeable.
Anyone who has been reading my blog for a while now will know that Essie nail polishes are my favourite and recently I bought some new ones to add to my ever-growing collection. So, today I thought that I would put together a little Autumnal themed nail polish edit, exclusively of Essie polishes, including the new colours I picked up.
Firstly one of my favourites, Bahama Mama. This shade is a gorgeous dark plum colour and I think it is the perfect autumnal polish. Another old favourite for me is Stylenomics. A very dark, almost black green which is great if you want something quite dramatic. For more of a grey toned blue colour, I love reaching for is Bobbing for Baubles as it is such a unique colour. It looks really grey in the bottle but as soon as it is applied to the nails you can definitely notice the blue tone to it.
The newer shades to my collection include Maximillian Strasse-her, a Lily Pebbles favourite that I think will be the perfect paler blue-grey shade for this time of the year. I also picked up Maki Me Happy, the perfect deep red shade, that reminds me of Christmas. The final full sized shade is Cocktail Bling, a gorgeous pale grey colour, which I am really excited to try and think it would look really gorgeous with some of the glitters I have from Essie. I also got a free mini bottle of Sugar Daddy, a pale pink shade as I bought one full sized bottle, which I think will be a good pink shade for this time of the year.
Instead of a monthly favourites this month I thought I would change it up a bit and do a favourites which is a bit more focused on lifestyle than beauty, simply because I haven't got anything new in my beauty favourites and I have mentioned the products I have loved recently loads on my blog already.
1. GILMORE GIRLS
I started watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix a couple of months ago but it hasn't been until recently that I have really been obsessed with it. I can sit for hours on end watching this show and it has definitely become one of my favourite TV shows at the moment.
2. OUR GIRL
Sticking on the theme of TV shows, I have been loving the TV series Our Girl with Michelle Keegan. I watched the previous series with Lacey Turner but I think this one is even better and I never want the series to end. It is a completely different type of TV show to my normal favourites but it is definitely something I am glad I started watching.
I am so glad that it is now Autumn. I think this might be my favourite time of the year, and even though I love summer, I think I love Autumn a little more. I am a big fan of chunky knits, coats and scarves so now I can wear these things again, I am very happy. I also love the food around this time of the year like roast dinners, stews and soups, so even though summer is over I am not too bothered.
4. SORTING MY LIFE OUT
Over the past couple of months I haven't been posting very much on my blog for many reasons but mainly because I have been so busy that I haven't had the time or the energy to get a blog post written. After results day when things didn't quite go to plan, I have been busy sorting out my plans for my unexpected gap year and also looking into reapplying for university for next year. Although at the time of my results I thought they were the end of the world, looking back now I am so glad things didn't go according to plan as now I think I will be applying for a course that I really will love, rather than one that I might not have liked.
5. ONLINE SHOPPING
My Autumn/Winter wardrobe is definitely a lot bigger than my Spring/Summer one but there are definitely more pieces I need to add to my wardrobe this season. So recently I have been doing some browsing on online shopping websites (wishlist coming soon!) and I can definitely say that I will be making quite a few orders over the next few weeks. Luckily for my bank balance I got a few gift cards for my birthday!
So, there are a few of the things I have been loving lately. What have been some of your favourite things recently?
Skincare is not something that I experiment much with, as once I have found a product that works for my skin I stick with it. One product that I have been using for ages now is the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief Moisturiserand I only realised recently that I have never reviewed it here on my blog so I thought I would do that today.
As someone with combination, dehydrated skin I struggle to find moisturisers that are hydrating enough without being too heavy. This moisturiser is the perfect formula for me because it is incredibly hydrating but because it is a light gel it isn't at all heavy on the skin and doesn't break me out, which many skincare products do.
As it is such a light formula it absorbs really quickly into the skin and leaves the skin feeling really soft and smooth without any sticky feeling on the skin meaning your skin doesn't feel clogged at all which I really love, especially if I use it in the mornings. It does provide a good base for makeup so if you wanted to use this as a morning moisturiser it would work really well with whatever base you are wanting to follow it with.
At the moment I am using this moisturiser in the evening only and using another product in the morning, only because my skin can be a bit oilier in the summer and I prefer something less hydrating in the day but as a night cream this really works wonders. Whenever I run out of this and don't have a backup (which hardly ever happens anymore as I always try to have a spare one somewhere) I notice a really big difference in my skin and it can look a lot less healthy.
For today's Sunday Post I thought that I would do a round up of some of the things I have been loving recently that I think you should try this week including my current favourite workout, recipe, YouTube video and book.
Ever since I saw these delicious Raspberry Breakfast Muffinsin one of Amelia Liana's videos they have been a firm favourite of mine. They are the perfect, healthy breakfast and are so delicious it is hard to believe that they are relatively good for you. I love having these for breakfast or as a snack throughout the day.
About a week ago Em from My Pale Skinposted this amazing tutorial on YouTube and I absolutely loved it. One because I love Em's tutorials and two because it was a tutorial of my favourite Snapchat filter, the golden butterfly one. I am yet to try this out but it really is stunning and such a good idea for a tutorial. If you haven't already watched this I would highly recommend that you go and do that now.
I have been a big fan of Karena and Katrina from Tone It Up for years and have loved all of their workouts. This week I tried one that I hadn't already tried, the Pool Side Workout, which I absolutely loved it. If you haven't tried any of their workouts out before, definitely give this one a try this week. Since tidying my room last weekend I started reading the Marie Kondo book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying. Now you definitely have to take this book with a pinch of salt as it can be a bit extreme but the main ideas are really good and I can definitely say that once you have read it you will have an urge to start tidying and organising your stuff, so if you need some motivation to tidy and sort out your things, try reading this book and see if it helps.
I hope you have a good Sunday, and let me know if you give any of these a try!
