What's in my makeup bag?

As I mentioned in my August Favourites post (read it here) I went away last month and so I thought that today I would write about what is in my makeup bag that I travel with. This is makeup that can be used for everyday makeup and also if I was going out in the evening. I take this with me on holiday, to friends houses and this is what sits on my dressing table so I know where my all of my go-to makeup is. I will try not to write too much about each product otherwise we would be here all day! The bag itself is from Cath Kidston which I got a couple of years ago so I don't think you can get it anymore unfortunately.

For foundation I am using Bourjois Healthy Mix in the shade 51. I love this product as it leaves your skin looking dewy but not oily which I think looks really natural (I think a full review of this product will be coming soon) and for concealer I am using the No7 Instant Radiance concealer for under my eyes in the shade II. The powder is also a Bourjois product and it is the Healthy Balance powder and I am using the shade 53. I don't really know why I have to use this powder two shades darker than the foundation but I found that the shade 51 was far too light for my skin so I got 53 instead. For blush I am currently loving the Revlon Matte blush in 004 Barely Buff for a natural looking cheek but if I want to have more bronzed look I use the GOSH Pearl Powder Balls in Glow. This gives a really natural looking glow as long as you don't apply too much. However because this is quite shimmery it isn't great if I want to contour so for that I use the Benefit 10 Powder Box. This is really great and it comes with its very own highlighter in it so if I need to travel light then this is perfect for me. Unfortunately this product has been discontinued so you can no longer purchase it. My other highlight colour is also one that I don't think you can get because it was in one of MAC's limited edition collections but it is one of their eyeshadows in Golden Crown. I don't personally like this as an eyeshadow but I think it looks really pretty as a highlight.

For eyes I keep things neutral and just add more eyeliner and mascara if I want a more dramatic look. The first eyeshadow pallet on the left is from Clinique and I love it because it is neutral but has a pink in it to add a little bit of a pop to the look. This also comes with one of my favourite mascaras from Clinique, the High Impact mascara which is great if you only want to carry around one pallet but because I love other neutral eyeshadows I have other ones in my makeup bag. The next pallet I actually use for my eyebrows but I only use the darker shadow. The other two eyeshadows are MAC's Nylon (left) and No7's Wheatsheaf (right) which are just useful for everyday eyeshadows. As you can see I have a slight obsession with taking a lot of neutral eyeshadows with me but it all fits into my makeup bag so that makes it OK (?). The clear mascara is from 2True and I use it to set my eyebrows but it has started to get a bit gross but it is almost finished so it will be going in the bin soon. For mascara I am using Maybelline's the Colossal Volume Express Waterproof mascara in black. This was perfect for the summer because it was suitable for the pool. The three eyeliners are GOSH's Velvet Touch eyeliner (top left), Barry M's Kohl Pencil in 26 and then Collection's Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner (read my review here) for a more dramatic look.

I don't carry many lip products in my makeup bag but the ones I do carry are must-haves for me! All of these have featured on my blog before. The first four were in my August Favourites post (read it here) and the last one was in my July Favourites post (read it here) so I won't go into too much detail about them however if you want to know more about them then you can go to those posts linked. The first product is the Nivea Pearly Shine for a nice sheen on the lips and the next one is Maybelline's Baby Lips in Hydrate for keeping my lips from getting chapped. Then I have two Rimmel Vinyl Gloss lip glosses in Fashion Icon (left) and Take a Chance (right) and then for more colour on my lips I have No7's Sheer Temptation in 15 Tempt which also has a slight gloss to it. As I said all of these product are described in more detail in the posts linked above.

Brushes and tools
I don't carry many brushes around, only the ones I will definitely need. The first one is just a regular eyeliner sharpener which is technically a tool not a brush. The next brush is my favourite brush ever, Real Techniques Expert Face brush which I use for foundation, concealer and blush. I do also carry around a blush brush which I don't use as much any more but I do sometimes use it for bronzer. For filling in my eyebrows I use Benefit's Hard Angle/Definer brush. For eyes I only really use two brushes as the MAC 217 brush can be used for pretty much all parts of applying eyeshadow. The other eye brush is the GOSH Professional Art Eye and Lip brush but I only use it for my eyes. Then I have my Kabuki brush from Bourjois for my powder.

So there are all of the things I carry around in my makeup bag. I don't really know how it all fits but it does!

What do you have to have in your makeup bag?
