Long time no see...

Source
Well hasn't it been a while! I can't quite believe we are in December already and that I haven't posted since September. Having started sixth form and learning how to drive in September and then starting a new Saturday job in October I haven't really had a moment to think about writing a blog post! I have missed sitting down and writing posts but somehow Theology essays and French and Spanish vocab tests have taken over my life!
Of course now that December is here I am officially excited for Christmas. The songs, the decorations and the food are only some of the things I love about this time of year and knowing that there is a three week break from school around the corner does make me very happy!

I'm just going to finish this post with a quote I saw today that really inspired me; 'You have one month to finish the book of 2014. Make the last chapter a perfect one'.

Review || NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

There is no doubting that I have a bit of a thing for NARS face products and so it was only right that this little guy made his way into my makeup collection.

Being pale means that a lot of drugstore concealers are not light enough for me as they do not offer a very good colour range. However the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer has an amazing shade range which goes light enough for even the palest of people like me. I was colour matched to the shade Chantilly which is the lightest shade available and it is a perfect match for me.

The formula of this product is really lovely. Not too thick meaning that is doesn't crease or become cakey under the eye but not too sheer that is doesn't cover blemishes, an all round winner. On really bad blemishes I find I have to do a few layers of it but in fairness that does lead to a more natural finish on the skin so it isn't a totally bad thing.

At £22 it isn't cheap but if you are prepared to splurge on a concealer then I would definitely recommend picking this up and since there is such a good shade range there should be a shade for everyone.

What is your favourite concealer?

Why I'm Looking Forward To Winter

It is now officially autumn meaning winter is just around the corner and I'm not going to lie I am pretty excited about it this year. So I thought I would put together some of the things I am most excited about for this year's winter months.

1. The Clothes
I am really looking forward to wrapping up in woolly jumpers, scarves and fluffy socks and I have to say I have missed wearing my winter coat. I have spent a lot of time recently looking on ASOS, Topshop and Zara at their new winter clothes and have seen a lot of really gorgeous items of clothing. And the fact that I can finally wear my winter boots means that I no longer have to worry about whether my toe nails are painted because they are going to be in boots and closed toe shoes for a while. Stress over.

2. Evenings in front of the fire
We recently had a fire place fitted in our living room and I can't wait to watch Christmas movies whilst drinking hot chocolate by the fire.

3. Christmas
Do I really need to explain this one? The run up to Christmas is probably my favourite time of the year. Decorating the house, seeing Christmas lights in every town and being woken up by your radio alarm to hear Christmas songs is a pretty good way to start the day. And then there is Christmas itself. Do I need to say more?

4. The food
As much as I love summer barbecues nothing quite beats a Sunday roast for me, and although we have had a few over the summer I am really looking forward to them becoming a weekly thing again and enjoying Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes every week sounds like a good idea to me!

5. Saturday night TV is back
So Strictly Come Dancing started yesterday and X Factor started a few weeks back so it means we are officially on the run up to Christmas. This means that Saturday's will not be spent wondering what to watch in the evenings.

What do you love most about the winter months?

Nail Wishlist

I have been a little bit obsessed with nail polish recently. Not just applying it often but also buying it. A haul will be coming later on in the week which will prove my new obsession to you all, however today I thought I would put together a little(ish) wishlist of some of the nail related things I really want to get my hands on.

This gorgeous Deborah Lippmann nail polish, Cleopatra in New York, is something I first spotted on Anna's Instagram quite a while ago now and I fell in love with how unique and pretty it is. I can't say I have ever seen a polish like this, black with gold flecks in it. I  think it would be the perfect A/W shade, and I would get a lot of use out of it particularly running up to Christmas!

The Essie Fall 2014 collection looks amazing and after having a look at it in store I regret not picking any of the shades up. The 5 pictured are the ones that I think I would wear, there is another shade that really didn't appeal to me. I love the shades at this time of year, dark, reds, blues and greens and this collection really fits that well. Some of these might be making their way into my Boots basket some time soon...

After talking to Emily on Twitter a couple of weeks back about nail polish top coats, she recommended the Nicole for O.P.I Nail Lacquer Treatment Quick Dry Top Coat. I am very impatient when it comes to waiting for my nail polish to dry so something with 'Quick Dry' in the name sounds very appealing to me and since I really need a new top coat this might be the next one I try.

These House of Holland nails are amazing! There is something Kardashian-esque about the shape of these nails and as someone who spends far too much time watching them on TV I can at least have their nails right? There are a lot of amazing designs in the House of Holland nails collection but the Ghetto Gold design look like one of the most simple and perhaps wearable designs out of all of them.

Finally is another Anna inspired one, Nails Inc Porchester Square Gel Effect Polish. A very simple, natural-ish shade with a gel formula, what else is there to love? I am always chipping my nail polish so 1. if it has a slight gel formula it is less likely to chip and 2. it is so pale it probably wouldn't be too obvious if it did chip. An all round winner in my eyes.

What nail products are on your wishlist at the moment?

Review || Indeed Labs Hydraluron Serum

I've mentioned quite a few times now on here that my skin is dry and dehydrated so I won't go on about that for too long and bore you however I will tell you about one of my current favourite skincare products. I really needed something to inject some hydration into my skin (not literally though!) so I looked around for some thing that would really pack a punch. Enter Hydraluron.

This serum from Indeed Labs contains hyaluronic acid which can hold up to 1000 times it's weight in water, pretty impressive really, increasing the hydration levels of you skin. This seems like the perfect product for dehydrated skin or for someone who wants to make their skin look more plump, healthy and glowing.

Each time I use it I use about a pea-sized amount for my whole face and neck and generally this is enough. However since it absorbs really quickly into my skin there isn't a lot of blending time so you have to act fast. I don't really like the texture on my skin after it has been absorbed, its not something I can describe, it's just a little weird, but once I have applied my moisturiser it goes away, so it is really a very minor part I dislike.

In terms of the actual hydrating factor of it I really think it has helped my skin. The first time I used it I woke up in the morning with really glowing skin, which I haven't had before and my skin felt really smooth and full of hydration. After using it every night for a week I realized that I could probably just use it every other night, which has been working really well for me.

The only major downside for it is the price. It is relatively cheap compared to a lot of serums but at £24.99 it isn't cheap.  I think if you don't mind spending that much money on a serum it is definitely worth picking up.

Have you tried this product before?

NOTD: Essie Stylenomics

Essie Stylenomics
Essie Stylenomics
I have wanted a dark green nail polish for about two years now and every one I have found has had a bit of a metallic look to them, which I didn't want. I had almost given up my search until I came across this one from Essie, Stylenomics. This is exactly what I was looking for, a solid, non-metallic dark green, it basically ticked all of the boxes.

This is a really good Autumn/Winter shade and is also a great time saver in terms of nail painting goes as it is a one coat job, only two is you apply the first coat very lightly. Even with one coat it is very dark, almost a black green and in some lights it is definitely green, others it is more black.

Have you tried this colour before?

Eye Makeup Remover Round-up

In terms of finding a decent eye makeup remover, it isn't exactly easy. They all claim to remove even waterproof mascara when in reality you will be left with pretty much the same amount of makeup on your eye as you started with. So I thought I would put together a little round-up of some of the eye makeup removers that I have been using recently.

If you don't wear heavy or waterproof makeup...this one from the Waitrose Pure range will be perfect for you. I have never come across this range before so I got it on a bit of a whim and I was pleasantly surprised. It is very gentle on the eye and doesn't sting and removes light or non waterproof makeup really well. Since it is fragrance free and natural it is perfect for anyone with sensitive skin and it is only £1.99 for 200ml of product, bargain!

If you want one that can remove your whole face of makeup...The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil is the on to go for. This is probably the most luxurious one of the lot since you have to gently massage it into your skin so it can break down your makeup and it feels very nourishing on the skin and not drying at all. Since it is oil based it can remove waterproof makeup but it doesn't leave an oily film on the skin once rinsed off with water.

If you need something to remove waterproof makeup...The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Makeup Remover is the way to go. I first heard of this one through a review on Lily Pebbles' Blog. She compared it to the Clarins Instant Eye Make-Up Remover, which is one I had my eye on getting but the £18 price tag put me off whereas The Body Shop one is only £8 which is much more reasonable. It is one of those products that is a bi-phase formula which are typically really good for waterproof mascara removal because of the oil in it and this one if no different.

Have you got any other recommendations for eye makeup removers?

Topshop Wishlist || Autumn/Winter Edition

Topshop is up there with one of my favourite shops and the vast majority of my wardrobe is Topshop. There is no reason other than the fact that their clothes are amazing and relatively affordable, oh and they are pretty good quality. So in celebration of the fact that I no longer have to wear school uniform and that the weather is becoming more wintery I thought it would only be right to do a Topshop Wishlist, Autumn/Winter Edition.

Starting from the top left-hand corner going clockwise.

Topshop are well known for their amazing selection of different colours and styles of jeans. I have a few pairs of the Leigh jeans and I want to add a few Jamie ones to my collection. I chose a black pair, a dark green pair and a blue pair because I think they are quite easy to wear colours. I like the rips in the knees, it adds a bit of an edge to any outfit and they are high waisted, which is something I am missing form my wardrobe.

Believe it or not I have never tried a Topshop lipstick. They are much loved in the beauty community so I feel like I need to jump on the bandwagon here. The one pictured is Ohh La La but I would have to swatch it in store to see which one I would pick. If you have any suggestions then please leave them in the comments below.

I have chosen a watch to feature in this wishlist because I am in desperate need of one. I have a few but they are more casual and I would like one that is a little more smart and one that would go with everything. This Olivia Burton Big Dial Watch caught my eye because it is quite big but elegant looking and it is black and gold, perfect. Might have to add this to my Christmas List.

In an attempt to inject a bit of colour into my winter wardrobe I added this dark green Sleeveless Seam Detail Flippy Dress. Okay it isn't exactly a bright colour but it is better than navy blue, black, white and grey right?

I love basic t-shirts worn with jeans. It is easy to wear and comfy and is pretty much my everyday uniform. This Frill Sleeve Tee looks super comfy and a little different to the typical basic tee. Although there is only a size 16 available on the website I might be lucky in store and find it and I feel it would fit right in with all of my monochrome clothes!

OK this Mono Patterned Cardigan might be a little out of my comfort zone but it looked good on the model and I think this could make my normal boring monochrome wardrobe more of an interesting monochrome wardrobe.

This next item I blame on Amelia Liana because of this Instagram picture and oh my gosh it was love at first sight. I love heeled ankle boots but the gold detailing on these makes them even more dreamy. These MINE Leather Buckled Ankle Boots might have to make their way into my shoe collection pretty soon!

I feel this Big Felt Floppy Hat is very Made In Chelsea, the cast always seem to wear these type of hats in the colder months. I don't really wear hats because I'm not a major hat person but maybe if I had one like this I could be converted, who knows *shrugs shoulders*.

Oh how I love a good Topshop jumper. The majority of my jumpers are from Topshop with a few River Island ones thrown in for good measure. This Rib Grunge Jumper looks so warm and cosy, perfect for the colder months and although, again, the website doesn't have my size, they might have it in-store.

So after a very wordy post (sorry about that) I'm done! What high-street store have you been loving recently?

Review || Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser

Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser
Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser

Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser
If you'd asked me 2 years ago about Origins I would have probably looked at you a bit blankly, because if I'm being totally honest I hadn't heard of the brand until I started reading blogs more regularly. Since I found out about it and read some reviews of their products I knew I had to try something from them. For some reason I decided that the first product I would try would be the GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser and I am so glad that I did.

I have had this since April and have used it pretty much everyday, especially over the past month or so and I really love it. It feels really luxurious on the skin, a feeling that many cheaper moisturisers I have tried have never given me, and it does not leave my skin feeling sticky or greasy, in fact it is very light weight.

The only thing that could put you off is the smell. If you hate the smell of oranges and can't even put up with the scent you probably won't get on too well with this, but if you love the smell of oranges this will be right up your street. Personally I am not a huge fan of the smell but I think the longer you have it and the more you use, the less intense the scent becomes and you become slightly more used to it.

Although I would say this product might be better suited for those with normal, combination or oily skin, I really like using this, especially recently with Hydraluron applied first and then this on top. It isn't too intense with its hydration that my skin breaks out but isn't too light that it feels super dry. Overall this product is a winner and I have even recently repurchased it, that is how much I love it!

Are there any other Origins product I should try?

August Favourites 2014

August Favourites 2014
I know everyone always says this every month but I can't believe August is over and we are now in September! I personally love September, even though it is back to school time, because it is my birthday month so I am definitely pleased that it has turned up so fast. This month hasn't been a  major makeup month but these are some of the things I have really enjoyed recently.

First up is the Sephora Classic Multitasker Brush which has now become my go-to face makeup brush. I have been using this to blend in foundation, concealer and tinted moisturiser and it leaves a flawless, streak free finish and is so easy to use. I have done a full review of this here if you want to know more about it.

The next product is the Maybelline Eye Studio Master Shape Brow Pencil in Dark Blonde. I have been using this everyday for the past month and I feel like I have finally mastered the art of filling in my brows. It has a waxy consistency with really good pigmentation making my brows defined whilst still looking natural. The added bonus with this is that it has a spoolie on the end to brush through your brows to ensure all of the hairs are going in the right direction. This product is so good that I have actually repurchased it because I used my first one up which is the sign of a really good product.

My most loved lip products this month have been the balance me rose otto intensive lip salve and then Topshop Lip Liner in Fearless, which unfortunately is not for sale anymore. I am not a massive fan of wearing bright, bold colours on my lips due to the fact I never think they suit me, so instead I opt for tinted balm like products or more nude shades for my lips. So in an attempt to wear this Topshop lip liner I decided to layer it up with a lip balm product to soften the colour slightly and I am totally sold. It allows me to alter how intense I want the colour to be at the same time as infusing a bit of a summer vibe into my everyday makeup routine.

Now onto my last beauty product of the month, the Soap and Glory Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub. At the beginning of the month my skin was going through a very dry spell and was not looking its best. So I decided to try and find a new scrub. Of course the first brand I looked at was Soap and Glory because they do some of the best bath and body products out there for a really good price. After smelling quite a few different scrubs I settled on this one and I have not been disappointed. The smell is delicious, sweet but not overpowering and the product itself works really well, leaving my skin feeling really smooth and not dry at all.

Probably my most favourite favourite this month has to be the magazine Allure. It is an American beauty magazine that is very difficult to track down here in the UK. I managed to find one in a local WH Smiths and I cannot describe how happy I was to finally have one to read. I was certainly not disappointed and have reread it a few times over the last couple of weeks. With articles all about makeup, hair and skincare it is the perfect magazine for every beauty blogger and I might sign up for a years subscription of it just to save me the hassle of trying to find one again!

There we have it, favourites done for another month. What have been your favourite things recently?

All About Skincare: Part 2

Skincare Products

Skincare Products

Yesterdays post was all about my morning skincare routine and you've guessed it, today I am going to discuss my evening skincare routine, so lets get into this.

If I've been wearing makeup the first thing I do is remove my eye makeup using The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil to remove the majority of my eye makeup. I do end up looking a bit panda before washing this product off, but this is seriously the best thing for breaking down and removing eye makeup, especially on heavier makeup days.

To make sure all of my eye makeup is completely gone I then go in with The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Makeup Remover. A full review of these two products and one other eye makeup remover is going up next Sunday so keep your eyes peeled for that.

If it has been a particularly heavy face makeup day I use some face wipes (not pictured) such as the Simple Kind To Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes before going in with the Simple Kind To Skin Moisturising Facial Wash. This is exactly the same as in the mornings, I apply it to damp skin, apply in circular motions and then wash off. I also use the Avène Gentle Milk Cleanser as another way to ensure all of makeup is completely removed. I have a full review of this product here.

As I said in Part 1, I don't use a toner in the morning due to laziness but in the evenings I do and I use The Body Shop Aloe Calming Toner. This is one of those steps I never feel like I can notice the benefits from but it hasn't broken my skin out yet like most toners do so, so far so good.

Since my skin is dehydrated I have started to use the Indeed Labs Hydraluron serum since this helps to increase skin hydration and help you get the most out of your moisturiser. I will be doing a full review of this product soon too so I won't go into any more detail about this product other than to say that I think it is an amazing and has completely helped my skin become a lot more soft and smooth.

After letting the serum soak in for a few minutes I go in with my eye cream, the Yes To Carrots Moisturising Eye Cream for Normal to Dry Skin and apply this with my ring finger under my eyes and on my eyelids and I follow up with the Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser. I have a full review coming of this product on Wednesday so stay tuned for that.

Like in the morning, my last step is to apply the balance me rose otto intensive lip salve to help nourish my lips and keep them moisturised.

And there we are, after two rather wordy posts my skincare routine is done. The only things I am missing from my routine, both am and pm, is a day moisturiser with an SPF of 15 or higher, as mentioned in Part 1 and a face scrub. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

All About Skincare: Part 1

Skincare Products

Skincare Products
Over the last few months I have really got into skincare and I have realised the importance of a routine that uses products perfect for my skin type. Back in June I went to my local Lloyds Pharmacy to buy a cleanser. At the time I thought my skin type was combination so I was eyeing up a cleanser from La Roche-Posay designed for combination skin. As I was unsure whether I should get it I asked one of the staff to help me pick one out and she mentioned that they had a free skincare analysis service where they tested 4 different things to do with your skin to identify what skin type you have: Hydration, sebum, pH and elasticity.  After being tested for these things it turned out my skin was dry and dehydrated, quite different to what I originally thought. They give some suggestions as to the type of products I should be using so after this I decided to alter some of the products in my routine and up the moisturising and hydrating products.

This leads me on to my skincare routine and since things are going to get wordy I am going to tell you about my morning skincare routine today and then tomorrow I will tell you all about my evening skincare routine.

I like to start the day by cleansing my skin with the Simple Kind To Skin Moisturising Facial Wash. I blend it into damp skin in circular motions, wash it off with a flannel and then gently towel dry my skin. My skin is always left feeling really clean after using this and it doesn't feel drying or leave my skin feeling tight like a lot of cleansers can do. I follow this up with the Avène Gentle Milk Cleanser just to help add a bit more moisture to my skin. I did a full review of this product here if you want to know more about it.

In the morning I generally can't be bothered to use a toner, I probably should but I'm usually feeling pretty lazy and tired in the morning so I like to keep things quite minimal, step wise, instead I skip straight to eye cream. The one I have been using recently is the Origins GinZing eye cream and it is a relatively new product in my routine but I have really enjoyed using it. I want to wait and do a full review of it when I have been using it for a substantial amount of time before I say that it has really helped my dark circles but it feels very good on the skin and leaves my eye area feeling nice and moisturised. Also it has a slightly pink tint to it to help hide those pesky dark circles.

My final steps in the morning are moisturiser and lip balm. I'm not completely happy with the products I am currently using for this step. I like to use SPF in the morning to help protect my skin but ideally I want an SPF which is 15 or more. However at the moment I am using the Simple Kind To Skin Protecting Moisture Cream with SPF 10 mixed with the Simple Kind To Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser. It's not ideal but it is better than nothing I guess. For lip balm I use the balance me rose otto intensive lip salve to prep my lips for any lip product I am going to apply later and to prevent my lips from chapping.

If you have any suggestions for a moisturiser which contains an SPF I would be really interested to know what they are.

Review || NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna

NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna

NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna
The NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna has been on my wishlist ever since I first started watching beauty videos on YouTube back in 2009/2010. Obviously at the age of 12/13 I didn't need bronzer, especially not one that costs £27. But when I was in America recently I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to finally add it to my collection since it would be a little cheaper than at home and I am so glad I did pick it up because it has now become a part of my everyday makeup routine.

Lets start with the packaging. Like all NARS products it is very sleek and simple which I love and the fact that there is a huge mirror on the inside is an added bonus because it makes the perfect compact mirror to carry in your bag and it is great when you are travelling.

In terms of the colour, it is the perfect shade for me. A lot of bronzers are too orange for my skin tone however this one is definitely not, it is the perfect colour for warming up my skin and giving it a bit of a healthy glow without making me look tangoed. Finish wise, there is a small amount of shimmer, however there is not a huge chunk of glitter in sight, and it makes your skin look a bit more glowing rather than muddy, like some matte bronzers do.

I typically apply this with the Real Techniques Blush Brush and apply it in a 3 shape, which subtly contours my face without looking too intense and makes application quick and easy.

Have you tried this bronzer before?

Weekly Wishlist || Space NK

Space NK has quickly become my favourite store over the past 6 months. It stocks a lot of brands which are hard to find in the UK and I could easily spend all day swatching every product in there so it only seemed appropriate to do a wishlist of some of the products that I currently have on my Space NK wishlist.
First up is the Kevin Aucoin Sculpting Powder. I have not got a lot of cheek bone definition and having pale skin can mean that regular bronzers can look a little unnatural when it comes to contouring but this slightly grey toned powder is supposed to create a more natural shadow effect. Since I don't like the look of obvious contouring this seems like the perfect product for me.

The NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base is on my wishlist only because I don't own an eye primer and I have only heard positive things for this product. It prevents your eyeshadow from smudging and creasing and creates a really good base for all eyeshadow products.

Ahh Diptyque. First of all the packaging of all of their products is so pretty and simple. Secondly everything smells amazing. I'm not 100% sure which candle I would pick out of their collection, as there are so many to chose from but I do know that I really want one or two. Also as a plus, when they are all burned up you can use the glass container to store makeup brushes in, so you are basically getting a two in one product here right?

The Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray has been on my wishlist for quite a while but I just haven't had the confidence to part with £39 for just one full sized bottle. I do really want to try it because I can find that my hair lacks volume at the roots especially when is is freshly washed. I know there are cheaper alternatives out there but I have heard so many good things about this one that I feel like I have to try it out, even if I only buy the travel sized version!

The NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser has been put on a wishlist before but I still haven't bought it so I thought I would include it again today. I love light coverage products and for days when my skin only needs a light base product I feel this would be perfect for me. The other thing that makes me want this product is the wide range of shades available, so there should be a shade light enough for me, which a lot of other brands do not offer.

By Terry is a brand I have not tried anything from but their Ombre Blackstar cream eyeshadow sticks sound really good. I can't remember the colour I swatched in store the other day but I think it was Blond Opal and it looked like a really good everyday colour which could be worn alone or with other colours blended in. It also really appeals to me because I think it would be something that is easy and quick to apply so perfect for those mornings when you hit the snooze button one too many times.

I am not a major powder girl because I prefer a dewy finish rather than a matte one but from what I've heard about the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder it is not too mattifying. It is supposed to set your makeup without being too cakey or creating a completely matte finish, which seems perfect for me.

Finally is the yummiest smelling product of them all, the Laura Mercier Crème Brûlée Honey Bath. Oh my god this smells delicious. Every time I see it in any store I have to smell it because it is so amazing. I can imagine this would be the perfect pick me up bath product after a long day of school/work and I can imagine it would leave your bathroom smelling gorgeous for quite a while after you've used it. I definitely need this in my life!

NOTD: White Nails

Mavala White Nail Polish
Over the past couple of weeks I've noticed my Instagram feed has had numerous pictures of white painted nails and I have been curious to try this trend out myself. I have dabbled with white nail polish before but I haven't been sold. I always thought it looked a bit weird next to my pale skin and I thought that it just looks like I have painted my nails with Tipp-Ex. However I was keen to try it out again because I really liked the way it looked on everyone else. I found my only white nail polish, a polish from a Mavala French Manicure set my mum gave me years ago, and painted my nails and I was happy with the results. It didn't look too much like Tipp-Ex and it wasn't too ghostly against my skin. Although it probably won't become my go-to nail look, I really like the way it looks and and I am even tempted to buy a new white polish since my one is very gloopy and there isn't much left in the bottle (too many failed at-home French manicures have meant I am left with very little product!). All in all I am very impressed with this look and I think it is very fresh and pretty for the spring and summer months.

Have you tried this look out before?

What's In My Travel Makeup Bag #2

Its been almost a year since I wrote about what I take in my makeup bag when I travel so its definitely due an update. My makeup collection has changed quite a bit in the last year, and with that so has my travel makeup bag. Not only that, but I think I have narrowed it down to more of the actual necessities rather than the 'I'll try and squeeze as much makeup as I possibly can into one bag' kind of necessities.

The bag itself is one of those clear bags you get when you buy set of those small containers for putting your toiletries in when you travel. I decided to use a clear bag only because it would be easier to see where a product is rather than having to rummage around for ages trying to find that one mascara.

Ok makeup time. Recently I have been reaching for the Bourjois CC Cream as my base product because it is a light weight product on the skin and gives a gorgeous dewy finish. I may have gone a bit overboard with the concealers but only because they all do different things. I have two different shades of the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, in Fair and Cool Medium, the Bourjois CC Eye Cream for covering under eye circles and the No7 Instant Radiance Concealer for brightening under the eyes. For powder I have gone for my all time favourite powder, the Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder. The NARS Laguna Bronzer is probably my favourite bronzer I have ever used since it is very natural looking on my skin and helps to warm up my complexion, so of course that is in my makeup bag. And finally for face was the Bourjois Little Round Pot Blusher in Rose de Jaspe.

I've actually been quite controlled when it comes to eye products believe it or not because I have been known to bring several eyeshadow pallets with me on a week long holiday...yes I know, ridiculous! So for eyeshadows I've picked the Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit and three MAC eyeshadows in Nylon, All That Glitters and a limited edition one called Night Manoeuvres. Eyeliner wise I've chosen a few different types, the Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner, MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack, GOSH Velvet Touch Eyeliner in Metallic Brass and GOSH Kohl Eyeliner in Black. For mascara I have one waterproof one, the Maybelline The Colossal, and two non-waterproof ones, Clinique High Impact Mascara and Maybelline The Falsies Flared, all of which are in black. For brows I have only got the Maybelline Master Shape Brow pencil in Dark Blonde and and clear mascara from 2True.

Finally lips, and I've got 4 options. For lipstick I have the Lancome L'Absolu Rouge in Rose Nu, a 'my lips but better' lip colour. I also have the Models Own Lip Balm in Tangerine, Maybelline Color Sensational Shine Gloss in Glorious Grapefruit and the Clinique Superbalm Moisturising Gloss in Grapefruit.

I hope you enjoyed having a peak inside my makeup bag. What products are always in your travel makeup bag?

Avène Gentle Milk Cleanser

Avène Gentle Milk Cleanser
Avène Gentle Milk Cleanser
My skincare routine has changed dramatically recently due to a sudden realisation as to the type of skin I actually have. I always thought my skin was combination when in reality I have dry, dehydrated skin. Quite different to what I first thought! I will do a more in-depth post about how I found out what my skin type was, so I won't go into too much detail today, however I thought I would tell you about a new product that I have been using recently as part of my skincare routine, the Avène Gentle Milk Cleanser.

I was told that a cleansing milk would help my skin out a lot since it will add moisture to it rather than strip the surface like some of the harsher foaming cleansers do. There were a few that caught my eye but I decided on this Avène one simply because I have wanted to try something from this brand for ages. It is quite rare that I just buy a product without reading some reviews about it before hand since I don't want to waste my money on a rubbish product, but I still went ahead and picked it up.

And I was not disappointed. After using it for a few days I could already notice that my skin looked more healthy and hydrated than it had before. Another bonus is that it is very straight forward to use, put one pump of it onto a cotton wool pad (or your fingers) and sweep all over your face blending it into the skin as you go and then its done! If I've been wearing makeup that day I tend to use a soap styled cleanser where I can wash off the product to make sure my makeup is full removed, but on bare faced days I can just use this cleanser.

At £11.50 from Boots it is not ridiculously expensive, especially as you get 200ml of product in each bottle, which will last for ages so I would definitely recommend picking this product up if you have dry skin like me, because it has helped my skin out a lot.
