Sephora Classic Multitasker Brush

Sephora Classic Multitasker Brush
Sephora Classic Multitasker Brush
Over the last year or so my love for makeup brushes has grown. I seem to always have one or ten different brushes on my wish list and seem to try and get some every so often to spread the cost. When I was recently in Italy I popped into Sephora and stumbled across a brush I had never heard or seen anything about, the Sephora Classic Multitasker Brush. I instantly fell in love with it because it has extremely soft, synthetic bristles, a major selling point for me and it looked like the perfect addition to my brush collection. Of course being me I could not just walk away without it so €18,50 later it was mine.

I knew I would use this brush mainly for foundations, tinted moisturisers and concealers to blend everything into my skin for a flawless finish. After using it for about a month I can safely say that this has replaced my Real Techniques Expert Face brush as my go-to base brush. The Sephora Brush is slightly more flexible than the Expert Face Brush so I find it gives a lighter coverage to any base product and it has meant that I can use less product as a little now goes a long way. I have also found that you can apply powder, blush and bronzer with it and it doesn't look heavy and cakey so if I had to pack really lightly for a trip this would be my go-to face brush as it can be used for pretty much any face product.

What are your current favourite makeup brushes?

NOTD: Essie Bikini So Teeny

Essie Bikini So Teeny

Essie Bikini So Teeny

Essie Bikini So Teeny
Essie Bikini So Teeny
Hello everyone!

If you read my High End Makeup Weekly Wishlist then you will have seen that I was hoping to pick up Bikini So Teeny by Essie next time I saw an Essie stand. Of course when I was in Italy at the beginning of the month we went into Sephora to admire the many shelves of beauty products, my idea of heaven of course, and they just so happened to have a collection of Essie nail polishes. I instantly spotted Bikini So Teeny and took it to the cash register so that I could finally own it. It said on the Essie stand that each polish was around the 13€-14€ mark which I thought was about right and got my €20 note out of my purse. To my surprise the till said it was only 5€ which is just under £4! Bargain considering this polish is about £8 here in the UK!

Anyway after that ramble, this polish is definitely worth picking up, it is fairly opaque with one coat however two coats was necessary to ensure the colour was completely solid. In the bottle it looks really shimmery however this doesn't transfer onto the nails as strongly which I really like as it doesn't look to festive and disco ball-esque. The application is so easy as well because of the size of the brush. It is quite wide meaning on some of my thinner nails I only have to do one stroke of the brush and then my nail is covered, the perfect quick fix for nail polish application.

I will definitely be picking up some more colours in the not so distant future and I can see myself becoming a bit of an Essie addict!!

Have you got any Essie recommendations?

Review: Nivea In-Shower After Sun Lotion

Nivea In Shower After Sun Lotion
Nivea In Shower After Sun Lotion

Nivea In Shower After Sun Lotion
Since the sun has been shining in the UK recently, I'm sure many of you have been making the most of it whilst it is here. As much as sitting in the sun, reading a magazine can be very relaxing, there are many negatives to the sun. Not only does it damage your skin, especially when you forget to apply sun cream but it is also very dehydrating as the sun evaporates water from the skin leaving it lacking moisture. So after sun lotions and moisturisers are the perfect way to rehydrate the skin. I always find that the traditional lotions leave my skin feeling tacky for ages after applying it which is quite frankly a pain.

Enter the Nivea In-Shower After Sun Lotion. This is a wash off after sun lotion you can use in the evenings after your regular shower gel and it helps to add moisture back into your skin without the greasy feeling after wards.

I really enjoyed using this whilst I was in California (read about my trip here). After spending many hours outside my skin felt very dehydrated and after applying this in the shower and rinsing it off, my skin felt a lot more healthy. It doesn't leave any sticky feeling on the skin and as a bonus it smells really refreshing (apparently it contains cucumber so maybe that is the scent but I am rubbish at identifying scents!).

This is definitely the perfect product for any of you who have a holiday planned in a country with a lot of sun. And as a bonus it is only £4 at the moment in Boots so if you can get your hands on it I would highly recommend doing so whilst it is on sale (it is normally £8 in Boots).

Where Have I Been?

Santa Monica

Three weeks ago I stepped onto a plane with my family and headed 10 hours away to Los Angeles, California. As you can imagine I was super excited for this holiday as California has always been a part of the world I have wanted to travel to and to finally have the opportunity was amazing.

Santa Monica

Santa Monica

Universal Studios

Hard Rock Cafe

Santa Monica

Hollywood Sign
Santa Monica

Our first stop was Santa Monica where we stayed at the very beautiful Viceroy hotel. It was only a short walk from both the beach and the shopping area, 3rd Street Promenade, both of which we spent plenty of time at. Whilst we were staying in the area we also took a bike ride down to Venice Beach, Spent the morning at Paradise Cove in Malibu, went to Universal and spent a day seeing the sights on an LA tour. I completely fell in love with this area, the weather was perfect, the lifestyle is amazing and the people were all so friendly and polite.

Also the food was amazing. We ate in a little coffee shop called Cora's every morning and I enjoyed their buckwheat blueberry pancakes on more than one occasion! And of course I had to eat a few Nutella Crêpes at Café Crêpe.

Disneyland, California

Disneyland, California

Minnie Mouse

Disneyland, California

Next stop on our journey was Disneyland in Anaheim. Being a massive Disney fan and a big kid at heart this was such a fun few days. Both California Adventures and Disneyland itself were two of the most fun filled, busiest days of the trip. I even managed to go on a ride that went upside down which is a big achievement for me!

But my highlight of those two days (other than meeting Winnie the Pooh and Tigger of course) was the firework display. If you get the chance to see this you have to. It is really magical and just like the Disney intro with the castle with the fireworks behind it. Definitely felt like a 5 year old kid again!
Our last stop on our journey was San Diego. However we managed to fit in a quick(ish!) trip to Fashion Island in Newport Beach on the way there. This is probably the best shopping mall ever. They have pretty much any store you can think of and seating areas with free Wi-Fi for those in your family who don't enjoy spending hours looking at makeup, clothes and shoes! Its safe to say that I spent a lot of my dollars whilst I browsed the shops there.

Hotel Del Coronado

Sea World, San Diego

La Jolla

La Jolla

San Diego Zoo

San Diego Zoo

We actually didn't stay in a hotel in San Diego itself, rather we stayed at Hotel Del Coronado on Coronado Island. This is actually where they filmed a lot of the scenes from the movie Some Like It Hot, which just so happens to be my mum's favourite movie. I found Coronado Island very relaxed and a lot less crowded than Santa Monica and LA and it was a lovely place to end the trip.

A trip to both SeaWorld and San Diego Zoo were of course a must. On the other days we spent time at the beach, rode a Double Surrey around the island, visited La Jolla and went to see the San Diego Padres play the New York Mets at Petco Park which was an extremely fun evening.

Then the only thing left after all of that was a very long night flight back to London and the jet lag that followed.

NOTD: Barry M Rose Hip

Hello everyone!

As I'm sure you know by now I love Barry M nail polishes so it only makes sense that my NOTD today is a Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Rose Hip. This was released in the Spring time as part of a pastel collection and I have really loved this colour recently. It is a white toned pastel pink and I think that with a tan this colour would look even prettier. I had to apply two coats because otherwise it is a little sheer and patchy but with two coats it is opaque.

Have you ever tried this polish before?

Review: Bourjois CC Cream and Eye Cream

Bourjois is definitely a brand known among the beauty community for their amazing base products. Their Healthy Mix Foundation is very popular and is one of my favourite foundations so when they brought out their CC cream range, featuring a CC Cream and a CC Eye cream, I was very interested in it. After reading a few reviews of this product that were positive I felt like I had to try it out.

CC creams and BB creams have never really interested me before because I felt like they were just a silly marketing name however unlike BB creams the CC creams actually have a purpose, Colour Correction, to combat things like redness and dullness. The Bourjois CC Cream helps to even out red areas with green pigments, dark spots with white pigments and also apricot pigments to fight fatigue. I don't know if the pigments really do anything but when I wear this product my complexion does look more even, considering it is a really lightweight product. Another thing I love about this product is that it has a very dewy finish so my skin looks really radiant when I am wearing it, although a little powder is definitely needed in order for my skin to not look oily.

My only negative thing about this product is that the lightest shade, Ivory, is slightly too dark for my skin tone, like most other Bourjois foundations, however if it is well blended down onto my neck then it actually doesn't look too bad. And with summer weather/fake tan use now under way I think the colour could work a little better.

The CC Eye Cream is also really worth getting your hands on because it covers under eye circles really well and because it is very lightweight it doesn't crease under the eyes. It is really easy to apply because of the silicone applicator, which I think is a lot more hygienic than the classic brush or doe-foot applicators that usually come with these concealers.  It blends really easily into the skin and I have noticed that the colour, Ivory, is not too dark for me, in fact it is very brightening. Plus it contains SPF 15, which makes this product even better.

Have you ever tried these products? What did you think of them?

June Favourites 2014

Hello everyone!

June is now over which means it is monthly favourites time again. I can't believe we are now half way through the year! Where has the time gone?!? I don't even understand, it feels like it was Christmas yesterday. Anyway I'm not going to go on too much about all of that, so lets get on with the favourites.

My first favourite is a new skincare product for me, the Avène Gentle Milk Cleanser. I'm going to do a full review of this product in a few weeks time, but to cut a long story short I had my skin tested for what skin type I have and turns out I have dry, dehydrated skin so I got this cleanser to help hydrate it and keep it healthy. I have really noticed that my skin is softer and looks more radiant and dewy and I think it is because of this product.

Another skincare favourite has been my Origins GinZing Moisturiser. I got this product back in April and I wasn't a fan of it at first because I didn't really like the smell. It was a bit overwhelming but as time has gone on I have either got used to the smell or it has become a little weaker because I have been using it everyday in June. It's a relatively light-weight moisturiser but it is very hydrating, perfect for my skin so it has definitely been a staple this month.

Since summer weather has been a more frequent occurrence this month here in the UK, especially over the last week or so, sun cream has been a must have product. This Hawaiian Tropic Protective Sun Spray Lotion in SPF 20 is probably the nicest smelling sun cream I have ever used. It smells like coconuts, one of my favourite summer scents, and it sinks into the skin really fast and doesn't leave too much of a greasy mess on your skin like some sun creams, so this will be a staple all summer.

My hair has been especially dry this month so conditioning treatments have been used a lot and the one I always seem to reach for is my Aussie Miracle Recharge Luscious Long Leave-in Conditioner (well that's a mouthful isn't it?!). It is specially formulated for long hair and since my hair is reasonably long and the dryness was in the ends of my hair this product is perfect for me and has helped to moisturise and hydrate my hair so it looks less straw like!

Makeup time. Okay so first up is a really old product (yes I need to throw it out but it is almost finished and it is still working properly) and it is the Lancôme L'Absolu Rouge in Rose Nu. For me, this is a 'my lips but better' colour and when I haven't worn a balm like lip product I have worn this and I love it. It is a slightly more pink toned nude and I have just really loved it recently.

Finally is the Maybelline The Volum' Express Falsies Flared Mascara. I got this at the end of May and have absolutely loved it. I knew I would since I love all of the Maybelline mascaras I have ever used before but this is probably my favourite one now. It adds a tonne of volume to my lashes and a little bit of length and makes any old eye makeup look amazing.

What have been your favourite things recently?
