Things Only People With Curly Hair Will Understand Part II

Today's post is going to be part II of my 'Things Only People With Curly Hair Will Understand (read part I here).

1. Sleep ruins your hair
I wash my hair in the evenings because I like to straighten it and I don't have enough time to do it in the morning (or, you know, because I would prefer to be in bed for 15 minutes longer). Whether I straighten my hair or leave it au naturel I wake up looking like a completely different person. The hair has weird kinks in it in random places, the frizz levels have increased slightly and it doesn't resemble the hair I was happy with before I went to bed.

2. Drying our hair is a chore
You can't towel dry it because it will go frizzy, you can't blow dry it because it will go frizzy but if you leave it to dry naturally it will take 3 years to dry and it will be frizzy. There really is no winning with our hair. Straight haired people need to appreciate their hair and how it dries so easily and STRAIGHT. The jealousy is real!

3. People saying they have frizzy hair when they don't
When it is slightly humid outside us curly haired gals resemble Monica from Friends but our straighter haired friends seem it necessary to point out the fact that their hair is 'frizzy'. Believe me they have no idea what frizzy is. Their frizzy hair is mine on a good day or better. Trust me, IT ISN'T FRIZZY!

4. It costs more than straight hair
Firstly the amount of products we have to use to tame our hair is more than the average person. Shampoo, conditioner, treatments, oils, serums, leave-in-conditioner, the list is endless. And on top of that we need to use a lot more of the product than most people so our big bottles of shampoo and conditioner don't last as long as everyone else's.

5. Summer is difficult
To straighten or not to straighten is the big question for us curly haired girls who find the easiest way to deal with our hair is to straighten it. Straightening out hair in the heat can seem like a pointless task as it will need washing sooner and it adds even more damage to the hair. Equally if we don't straighten our hair we can end up looking like we have stuck our finger in a plug socket. And don't get me started on how dry our hair gets after going swimming in the sea or a pool. Curly hair is naturally drier than straight hair so when you add chlorine or salt to it it resembles something a bit like straw.

I hope you have enjoyed this post. What other things do you think us curly haired people understand that other people don't?
