NOTD: Broadway Real Life Nails

Today I am wearing the Real Life Petite nails by Broadway Nails. These nails are the French tip ones (known as pink) in the length Real Short.

I love these nails because naturally my nails are not very long or nicely shaped so a lot of effort has to go in to make them look nice. However with these nails I can simply put the glue on them et voilà, pretty nails!

I think French Manicures are so simple and classic so work for all occasions. I especially love the fact that these nails do not look really fake and they are not super long so are practical for everyday life (well for me at least, I find it hard having super long fake nails!).

Just a little black and white photo to add to the classicness of French Manicures!!

What's in my School Beauty Bag?

My school is very strict when it comes to not allowing us to wear makeup, however that doesn't stop me from carrying a small selection of beauty items around with me in my school bag (and wearing them!).

This little bag is from L'Occitane
I think that whatever is in your beauty bag should only be the essentials as you don't want to make your handbag/school bag too heavy (and speaking from experience school bags are already being weighed down enough with textbooks and folders!)

Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder and Powder Brush
Maybelline the Colossal Volume Express Mascara
Barry M Kohl Eyeliner, Mac Brow pencil in Fling and Gosh Velvet Touch Eyeliner
Even I'm not strictly allowed to wear makeup I still do, but just very subtle makeup like mascara, eyebrow pencil, powder and occasionally a teeny tiny bit of eyeliner if I really need to.

Benefit Lipstick in Mod Squad
Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in Take a Chance
Nivea Essential Care Lip Balm
Nivea Pearly Shine
Soft Lips French Vanilla Lip Balm
Honey and Lemon Lip Balm
The lip products I carry around are usually only lip balms rather than lipsticks and lip glosses however I sometimes I take this bag with me when I'm not in school so I tend to keep my everyday lipstick and gloss in here as well.

I have quite long hair and another one of my school's rules is that if your hair is past your shoulder it needs to be tied up so therefore I always have to use hair bands and occasionally hair pin. Even though I will always do my hair before I leave for school if my hair band breaks or I need another hair pin I don't want to be caught out so I always carry spare ones. I also carry this mini nail file in case of a nail emergency.

What do you carry around in your beauty bag?

NOTD: Models Own nails

Today I am going to do my first ever NOTD and for anyone who doesn't know what NOTD stands for it means Nails of the Day. About two weeks ago I went to Clothes Show Live, which is a fashion and beauty event held in Birmingham with lots of different brands selling their products and clothes. Models Own had a massive amount of products on sale including a goody bag filled with £65 worth of products for £10. Obviously I couldn't resist this amazing deal and quickly snapped one up. Part of the goody bag was three nail varnishes which you could choose and one that you couldn't choose. Both of the colours I am wearing today are from the goody bag, one I chose and one that I didn't.

The one that I chose was the dark blue colour called Valerian and it is definitely well suited for this time of year as it is dark and sparkly, therefore wintery and Christmassy. The other colour is a special limited edition one for the Clothes Show so it is not available to purchase but it is called Show Stopper 2.

Models Own is available at Boots and Superdrug.

Review: Soap and Glory Pulp Friction Body Scrub

Today's post is another review and this time I am going to review the latest Soap and Glory product I have purchased which was featured in my latest haul (and only haul so far!). So lets get on with this.

This scrub is an amazing smelling, body scrub that I have been using about once a week as an all over body exfoliator. This really helps to tackle the really dry areas like my elbows and knees but it also doesn't leave my skin feeling super irritated which sometimes happens with scrubs.

I love the smell of this product as it isn't overpowering in any way and just leaves your skin not only feeling great, but smelling great too. This is definitely a little-goes-a-long-way kind of product and I can see this lasting me a long time and at only £8 it is a product I recommend to all of you, especially now that winter is coming and skin tends to be a little dryer at this time of the year.

What is your favourite Soap and Glory product? Let me know in the comments below.

Five Favourites: Autumn/Winter Nail Polishes

Today I am going to write about the nail polishes that I will be wearing this A/W. So lets get into this.

Barry M Sequin Nail Effects in 1 White
Glitter polishes are such an easy way to spice up a regular plain manicure or pedicure and by putting this on the top of your favourite polish colour and it will make it be completely transformed. The green, silver, blue and red glitter particles mean that this could be paired with pretty much any colour and could be worn on all of the nails, as a statement nail or just on the tips of your nails.

Buy it here!

Barry M Instant Nail Effects Magnetic in 326 Dark Silver
This is a nice way to wear a black nail without it looking super harsh (although don't get me wrong I do like black nail varnish!). With the magnetic affect you don't need to be an amazing nail artist in order to get a beautiful pattern.

Buy it here!

nails inc. in Victoria
This is one of the prettiest colours I currently own. It is a deep red and it is stunning. I like to apply a couple of coats of it in order to get the full effect of the deepness but I love it. This is, in my opinion, a must have for A/W.

Buy it here!

Avon Speed Dry + Nail Enamel in
Twilight Blue
As you can probably tell most of my favourite nail colours for this time of year are deep and dark and this one is no exception. This is an almost black blue (basically a really, really dark blue!). I am going to be putting it on my toes tomorrow to go from a spring/summer colour to a autumn/winter colour and I can't wait. (I know painting your toe nails in winter seems kind of pointless since you are only putting your feet in socks and boots but my school doesn't allow us to wear nails polish on our finger nails so the only way I can enjoy these colours is by painting my toe nails.)

Buy it here!

Broadway Nails Real Life Petite Kit in Pink
Ok so this is not a nail polish but it is a nail look that I love. French Manicures are such an elegant, chic look and it goes with all outfits. These are super easy to apply and last for the 7 days it says it will (sometimes the occasional one will fall off but I just glue it back on et voilà!).

Buy it here!

Next on my nail polish list is a dark green polish and a deep grey one. If you have any suggestions as to which particular brand I should get for these colours please leave them in the comments below.

Work, Work, Work

Since most of us lucky people have had to go back to school recently we will be spending more and more time at our desks doing homework and this evening has been no exception for me. As we are spending so much time at our desks we might as well make them look nice, so today I thought I would share some of the Pins I have seen recently of some pretty desk organisation and design ideas.
Pin boards add a cute touch to a boring desk

These could be made out of old tin cans wrapped in wrapping paper
and an easy way to organise pens and pencils

If a pin board isn't for you this simple heart design could be perfect.

I love the fairy lights, I'm definitely going to try this.

Even though this is also a vanity, I like the pink and the decorations
which could liven up any boring desk.

I'm definitely going to decorate my desk this weekend with some of these ideas so that I will enjoy being at my desk a little bit more than I currently am as at the moment I am just looking at a boring, cluttered area of my room.
Do you have any desk design ideas and if so what are they? Let me know in the comments below.

Disclaimer: all photos are from Pinterest I do not any of them.

Review: Bourjois Healthy Balance Compact Powder

Today I am going to write about one of my favourite products that I am currently using on my face which is the Bourjois Healthy Balance Compact Powder. I have been using this powder for over a year and it is, for me, the best powder I have used. I know a lot of other people rave about the Rimmel Stay Matte powder and I do plan to buy that sometime soon but I just love this Bourjois one so I don't feel the need too buy it!
I have mine in the shade 53 Beige Clair.

This powder says that it is hydrating and that it is anti-shine which is perfect for me because I have combination skin so having both the hydrating side and the anti-shine side to it means that my skin looks flawless and not dry or shiny in any areas. If my skin does start to appear shiny throughout the day I can just apply this and it completely matifies it leaving it flawless again.

This product comes in 4 different shades so could be a bit limiting but the product is amazing so if you can find a shade that matches your skin, I highly recommend you try it out. As for the packaging. I think it is really pretty which isn't a major factor to how good the product is but I do like a product that looks nice on the outside and it is more likely to jump into my basket in Boots. At £8.99 it isn't too pricey so good for those on a bit of a budget. This powder does last a long time as well so it is definitely worth giving it a try.

Liebster Award

Yesterday the lovely Alicia from clever spices nominated me for the Liebster award. This award is a little award in the blogging world for small blogs who need a bit of a discovering shall we say. There are only a couple of rules that are quite straight forward and they are:
  • You have to give 11 facts about yourself
  • Answer the 11 questions given by the person who nominated you
  • Nominate 11 blogs (although I kind of cheated here, just continue reading to find out how!) who each have less than 200 followers
  • And finally give 11 questions you want the people you nominated to answer.
So lets get started!

11 facts about me:
  1. I love to bake but hate to cook
  2. I have always loved playing around with makeup, even when I was two and sitting at my granny's dressing table 'applying' lipstick (it was more like trying to cover as much of my skin with the lipstick but at the time I thought I was very cool!)
  3. I love to read, (but only chick lit styled books, nothing too serious or challenging!) especially when I'm on holiday lying by the pool.
  4. I am not a morning person. I hate getting up early for anything other than going on holiday.
  5. I would love to live in a sunny country when I'm older but couldn't because I would miss my family and friends too much.
  6. I am both a cat and a dog person.
  7. I love Cadbury's Dairy Milk chocolate so much. Well actually most of the Cadbury's chocolate bars are amazing.
  8. I have always wanted to visit Paris and go up the Eiffel Tower.
  9. I am right handed.
  10. When I was younger I gave flowers to Princess Anne (as in Queen Elizabeth II's daughter)
  11. I write way too many lists all of the time of things I have to do and the majority of the time I forget to do them!
11 questions I have to answer:

1. What's your favourite song at the moment?
At the moment it is between, Nina Nesbitt Don' Stop, John Newman Love Me Again and Bruno Mars Treasure.
2. If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be?
I would love to go to Greece. After seeing it on Keeping up with the Kardashians I want to go there even more!
3. Celebrity Crush?
Anyone who knows me really well knows that my celebrity crush is Harry Styles but for those of you who don't know me that well now you now know as well.
4. Would you rather live in the city or the country?
I currently live in the country and I don't like being so far from anything like shops, cinemas or even a train station and because I am only 16 I cannot learn to drive yet (you have to be 17 in England to learn to drive) so this means I have to rely on my parents to drive me to places which I don't like. Because of this I would prefer to live in the city.
5. What's the first thing you notice about people?
Probably their hair colour as this is quite an easy thing to notice.
6. What is your favourite dessert?
This would have to be my Granny's apple crumble. It is amazing. I once even ate it for breakfast because it is that good!
7. What is your favourite place in the world?
London. I love going their and sightseeing, shopping or just enjoying the London life. I could definitely see myself working in London when I'm older.
8. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Probably in the middle of uni studying something But I am not sure what right now. If I'm not at uni hopefully I will be working in London in job that interests me.
9. If you could switch places with anyone for a day who would it be?
This might be weird but I would love to swap places with a YouTuber like Zoella or missglamorazzi just to see what they do when they are not filming and see how much work the have to put into making a YouTube video. I don't know, it would just be interesting.
10. If you could pick 3 words to describe yourself, what would they be?
Red-head, kind and friendly. I don't know, I'm so bad at describing myself!
11. What is your favourite season?
Summer!! I love the sun and the heat and the fact we don't have school. It is just amazing but only if it sunny.

My Nominees are:
So your supposed to pick 11 small blogs but since a lot of the blogs I read have more than 200 followers I have decide to just pick the 6 blogs I think deserve this award and they are:

And my questions are:
  1. What is your favourite makeup brand?
  2. What do you love most about blogging?
  3. Who is your favourite YouTuber?
  4. What is you favourite nail polish colour at the moment?
  5. What clothes shop do you shop at the most?
  6. What was the last makeup product you bought?
  7. Can you speak any other language other than your first language?
  8. What is your favourite magazine?
  9. What artist or group (music) is you current favourite?
  10. What is your favourite film?
  11. Sweet or savoury food?
So thank you again to Alicia for the nomination!

Weekly Wishlist: Topshop

This week's 'Weekly Wishlist' is from Topshop. I am an avid Topshop fan and have been for a really long time. They always seem to have things that suit my style and the make up is amazing. So when I decided that I would be picking things from Topshop for my 'Weekly Wishlist' it took me a long time to choose just 7 things as there are sooooo many amazing clothes, shoes, accessories and beauty products that it was hard to choose but here are the things I finally decided on.

1. I love collars on tops and dresses and I also love monochrome so if they are in the same piece of clothing I'm going to love it right? Well, yes I do love this dress and I think it could be worn for both day and night, formal and casual so all in all this is a wardrobe staple.
2. Topshop jeans are famously known to be amazing. What I like about them is they don't feel like denim, more like jeggings and are super comfy and well fitted. So other than that I don't have much to say about them other than I really, really love them and really, really want them.
3. I have been longing after a new glittery nail varnish since my pretty gold one went really glupy (sad moments) and a multi-coloured glittery nail polish could just fit into the space in my collection. I have some Topshop Nail Polishes and I think they are really good and at only £6 they are definitely worth getting.
4. Again, like in the case of the dress, this is monochrome and I think playsuits are really cute so this is a win win situation. The slightly baggy shorts are perfect when you're not having a great body confidence day because you don't feel too on show and the high waist of the shorts also will highlight your waist and make you have the appearance of a slimmer waistline. Bonus' all around.
5. Every girl should have they perfect pair of black heels and a pair of strappy sandal style heels are perfect for all year round (although probably better for the summer as they are opened toe). The small platform means that there is extra height to the shoe without it feeling like it has that extra inch or so. In my eyes these look perfect but obviously I would want to try them on before I could say whether they are perfect as they could be the most uncomfortable shoes ever!
6. Ok so I'm going to admit now that I really don't know when I would wear this but I kinda like it and I don't know why! Varsity pieces are really in and have been for a while now and the longer they have been around the more I have grown to love them. That is about as much as I can say for this other than the fact that I like it.
7. Midi rings aren't everyone's cup of tea but I think that are really beautiful and add a bit of a different look compared to just a regular ring. I love heart jewellery and with the diamantés in the heart shapes it just adds a bit of bling!

There are my favourite things from Topshop at the moment. What have you been loving from there recently?

Hair Care Routine

Today I thought I would share with you how I look after my hair. My hair is sometimes a bit troublesome as it is naturally curly and as with a lot of people who have curly hair it has the tendency to be a tad frizzy. I have been doing this routine now for about 6 months but have been using all of these products between 1 and 5 years (the hair serums have been in my life for what seems like forever!) I am going to give you a step by step guide on how I do my hair and also how I style it. Bare in mind that if you have completely straight frizz free hair this routine will not be suitable for you but to all of you out there with hair like mine then this might be useful.

Step 1: First of all I get my hair wet and apply my conditioner which is Tresemme Keratin Smooth conditioner, to the ends of my hair. Yes I meant conditioner first. This is a tip that I only used for the first time today but I have to admit my hair is feeling super soft at the ends now. I found this little tip in Elle Fowler's (her YouTube name is AllThatGlitters21) latest video (link to the video here) and she said her hair stylist said that it helps protect the shampoo from drying out the ends of your hair. After applying the conditioner I apply my shampoo which is also from the Tresemme Keratin Smooth collection to only my scalp since that is where the oil is and then rinse.

Step 2: Next I apply conditioner again but this time I use my Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Frizz Remedy Deep Conditioner but only to the very ends of my hair. I leave this in whilst I wash, exfoliate and do all the other things that might take 3 minutes and then rinse out with cold water. This may be slightly unbearable but this will help add shine to your hair and also prevent a bit of frizz.

Step 3:  When I get out of the shower I put my hair in a hair turban towel and leave it like that for about 15 minutes. In this time I get dressed and do my makeup. Sometimes I leave it in for more time sometimes it is less time, it just depends on how long it takes me to get ready.

Step 4: Once I am ready I take my hair out of the towel and spray the Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance Leave In Conditioner all over my hair to leave it soft and less frizzy. Then comb it through with a wide toothed comb so it is evenly distributed throughout all of my hair.

Step 5: This step varies depending on whether I'm leaving my hair naturally curly or if I'm going to style it so Version one: when I keep it curly I put my damp hair into a French Plait/Braid to dry so that I am left with more controlled curls than if I just left it to dry without any help.
Version two: I leave my hair to dry naturally because I am going to style it.

Step 6: Version one: I usually leave it in until it is dry or almost 100% dry and then when it is ready I take it out of the plait/braid and put a tiny amount of the John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum to the ends of my hair and then anything left on my hands can go lightly on my roots but be careful not the put too much there because it will look greasy, comb through with a wide toothed comb and that's it done!
Version two: I leave my hair to dry fully and then I put the thermal version of the John Freida hair serum so that I have even more heat protection than just applying a heat protection spray and comb it through with a wide toothed comb.

Step 7: Next I spray the Tresemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine spray all over my hair, roots to the ends and comb it through again with a wide toothed comb to evenly distribute it throughout my hair so that it is all protected from the heat of my hair straighteners.

Step 8: This is the final step and that is to straighten my hair. I use ghd IV styler and just straighten it. There isn't much to it. I separate it into small sections and straighten my hair. It is as simple as that.

That is my current hair care routine. I'm sure it will change over the next few months as it gets into winter but as of now this is my haircare routine.

Nail Art That I Love

Today's post is some of the nail arts that I have seen on Pinterest that I thought would be nice to share with you. So lets get into the pretty glittery pictures.

I love nail art but unfortunately I'm not very good at it so I just have to look at everyone else's pretty pictures of it. As you can probably tell I love glitter (well 7 of the 10 photos here have glitter so that's a bit of a clue!) Oh and I love pink (also a clue from the pictures!)

I feel like I might try out the one with the snowman when it gets a little bit closer to Christmas (is it too soon to be getting excited for Christmas?) but as of now I will just have to look at these pictures and think how I will teach myself to do the nail art.

Anyway sorry about the lack of writing in today's post but I have been so busy all day. It has been one of those in and out of the car days so there hasn't been a lot of time to blog but I promise things will get a bit more interesting in the next couple of weeks.

Disclaimer: All photos from Pinterest, I do not own any of them.

The Best Brush Ever?

To answer the question in the title, yes the brush I'm going to write about today is the best brush ever! By this point your have probably scrolled down (OK maybe not scrolled down, maybe it was more of a glance to see a picture of said brush) so you might already know what brush it is but I'm going to tell you anyway, it's the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. This brush was mentioned in my August Favourites (read it here) and it has continued to be one of my favourite things that I currently own (makeup wise).

I used to hate applying foundation, to the point where I never wore it because it was so much hassle to try and get it so that I had no streaks or lines on my my face from the foundation. Maybe that was because the foundation wasn't suited to the brush of the brush wasn't suited to me. However that has all changed now that the Expert Face Brush has come into my life. I now love applying foundation because I know that it will always go right and I won't have to remove it and start again.

This brush applies my foundation (which is, by the way the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation) without streaks, lines or any blotchy patches. This is probably due to the fact that you can do little swirly brush strokes rather than the backwards and forward motions you have to do with a regular foundation brush. It leaves my skin looking skin like rather than the whole mask look that sometimes used to occur.

Overall I would say to anyone who wears foundation or would like to start wearing it you should definitely buy this brush and at only £9.99 it won't set you back too much.

If you would like to buy it click here.

Five Favourites: Autumn/Winter Lip colours

It is now that time of year when the leaves start falling and it starts to get a lot colder and the clothes and makeup become a lot darker and deeper. Therefore the lip colours become a little different to how they were in the summer (aka bright and colourful!). I've mention before that I am not a major wearer of lip colours (although I do wear these, some more than others) but I know there are many people out there who do love to have a statement lip, so this post might benefit some of you reading this.
L to R: Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in Take a Chance, L'Oreal  Color Riche in Pretty Peach, No7 Moisture Drench in Pink Crush, Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in Snog and L'Oreal Glam Shine in Mercury Crystal
Swatches as above
Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in Take a Chance
L'Oreal Color Riche in Pretty Peach
No7 Moisture Drench in Pink Crush
L'Oreal Glam Shine in Mercury Crystal
Now as you can see from the photos above I haven't got a photo of the L'Oreal Glam Shine Lipgloss. The only reason being every photo I took didn't show that the colour is a very deep berry colour, it showed it a lot lighter which is not an accurate display of this beautiful product so I decided not to include it but the true colour is shown in the swatch above.
These colours sum up autumn and winter for me. The nude to the very deep berry shows that there are many possibilities for lip colour.
My most worn out of these would probably be the Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in Take a Chance because it is so easy to wear and I love the slight gold tone in the gloss. If I'm having a self-conscious day then this is perfect as it is not too, "out there" shall we say.

As of now these colour will feature heavily in my everyday makeup because of my love for them. If you have a favourite lip colour for A/W let me know in the comments below what your favourite is.
