My Everyday Makeup Routine

Everyday Makeup

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you have had a good week and are enjoying your weekend. Today I thought that I would share my current everyday makeup routine that I have been wearing for about a month now. It is a very simple, minimal, easy makeup look that only takes me about 10 minutes to apply in the mornings, which is great for when I am in a rush to get to school. So lets get into the products I have been using.

First off is face products. I don't really like using foundation or even CC cream on a daily basis so I only use concealer on any areas of discolouration, like redness, spots and to cover the dark circles under my eyes. I use the No7 Instant Radiance Under Eye Concealer in number 10 in a triangular shape under my eyes to concealer and brighten my under eye area and on any other problem areas I like to use the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade Chantilly (full review here). To set these products into place I have been using the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light Plus which gets rid of shine but still allows your skin to look glowy and healthy. Bronzer is one of my daily essentials because without it I resemble something that looks a bit like a ghost! I have been using the NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna (full review here) ever since I got it back in July, however in the pictures above you may spot that the product itself isn't there. Instead I have been using the Laguna Bronzer from the NARS Virtual Domination set, just because it is easy to grab a palette with everything in it. A full review of this palette should be up next Sunday but in short it is a palette with a bronzer, three blushes and a highlight shade. I also like to use one of the three blushes from this palette to add a healthy flush to the cheeks.

Next up is brows. For a more in-depth post on how I do my brows click here but on a daily basis I tend to reach for this old Rimmel Palette and I use the darker, matte brown shade to fill them in and set them with the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara in Deep Blond.

Eyes are next and this step is really simple. I have really liked using the No7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow in Wheatsheaf all over the lids as it adds a subtle shimmer over the lids and isn't too harsh or dramatic. Some days if I have a little more time, I add some of the MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack just as a thin(ish) line along my lash line. For mascara I have been using the Barry M Lash Modelling Mascara to add length, volume and to separate the lashes.

For lips it is my usual nude/pink lip and recently I have been using the MAC Lipstick in Crème Cup and the Rimmel Vinyl Lip Gloss in Take a Chance.

I hope you have enjoyed this post. What makeup have you been wearing a lot of recently?

How to Stay Motivated to Exercise

If you read my New Years Resolutions post then you will have read that I want to try and exercise a little bit more this year. Sometimes I am really in the mood to exercise, but I will admit that there are times where all I want to do is sit on the sofa and watch Gossip Girl on Netflix. That is why today I thought I would compile some tips that I have picked up from magazines and fitness websites on how to stay motivated to keep on the fitness road.

I know there were many people out there who said this will be their year to be fit and healthy, and although some will have already thrown the towel in (I know I was in previous years!!), I know that there will be some of you who are really determined to change your lifestyle and improve your overall health and fitness, hence why I have put this pot together today. So let's get on with the tips.

1. Set a realistic goal
So this is something that you probably have already set but having a goal that is achievable for you is really helpful to inspire you to keep going. We all have different goals, whether it is to lose a few pounds/drop a dress size, tone up or simply improve your fitness so having a clear goal will help you to remember why you are exercising.

2. Follow health and fitness accounts
Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest house many accounts dedicated to health and fitness which can really help keep you motivated to continue exercising. My current favourite is Kayla Itsines' Instagram account. It is filled with inspirational transformations of people who have used her exercise guides, healthy and delicious looking meals and the occasional inspiring quote.

3. Buy the clothes
This is probably my favourite one as it involves shopping. If you have nice workout clothes you are more likely to wear them and potentially wearing them could lead you to actually workout. It's kind of a win win situation right there.

4. Find a plan and stick to it!
Whether this is a free plan or one you have to buy I would recommend finding one that you think you could stick to. Having a guide to follow can often make it easier to stick to exercising, especially having to buy one because you don't want to have wasted your money! Again, Kayla Itsines has incredible guides, I am currently following her first one and really enjoying it, although it is extremely tough but if you want a free guide Cassey from Blogilates has one every month. If you sign up for her newsletter she will send out the password so that you can access the plan for the month and all you have to do is follow along with the correct video for that days exercises. Super easy and totally free.

I hope some of these tips are useful to some of you, and although I am not a health and fitness expert I personally find these tips really do work.

Have you got any more tips to add to these ones?

NOTD: Essie Bahama Mama & Jazzy Jubilant

Over the past 6 months or so I have accumulated quite an Essie Nail Polish Collection. I bought my first one, Bikini So Teeny in Italy in July, and now I have a collection of about 20...crazy, I know. But I just fell in love with everything about their polishes. Great formula, perfect sized brush and the colour range is fantastic. So it is only right that my NOTD today features not one but two Essie shades, Bahama Mama and Jazzy Jubilant.

I have been wearing these colours quite a lot during the colder months, especially in the run up to Christmas, and while most people have said goodbye to the glitter for another year, I couldn't quite part with the accent nail that I have grown quite fond of. These colours are gorgeous together, with Jazzy Jubilant having so many different colours of glitter in it, that all compliment Bahama Mama perfectly. Jazzy Jubilant is also a great glitter polish as it can be built up to be very glittery or, like I have it, it can just add a small amount of sparkle.

What are you currently wearing on your nails?

Bedroom Decoration Ideas

I have a bit of an obsession with interior design and have done ever since I was little. I used to go through the Next Catalogue, not just for the clothes and shoes, but also for the interior section. I would cut out the pieces that I liked and stick them in a scrapbook and pretend I was an Interior Designer.

However now I use the modern day scrapbook of Pinterest to feed my interior design obsession. Recently I have been finding inspiration for how I would like my room to look after I have re-decorated it, hopefully some time this year! All of the above Pins have a common theme, white walls, neutral furniture with some pastel colours and metallic details here and there.

I love the clutter free look of these pictures, something I would like to adopt when I re-decorate my room along with this colour scheme. I also love the full length white mirrors, perfect for OOTDs and for generally ensuring that your outfit is looking okay.

A short and sweet post from me today, I am currently in the midst of my mock exams, but wanted to still get something up for you today.

My Brow Routine

Eyebrow Products
If you've been around these parts for a while then you will know that my brows are not my friends. They are extremely fair and they are both very different shapes. I don't care how many times I hear the phrase 'eyebrows are sisters not twins' I would rather they were slightly more similar as in their natural state the resemble 3rd cousins twice removed (?!) rather than sisters. Over the past 6 months or so I think I have just about mastered my brow routine and the products I use in order to add some definition and colour to my brows and I thought I would share with you how I fill in my brows on a daily basis.

Eyebrow Products

My favourite product for if I'm in a rush is the Maybelline Master Shaper Brow Pencil in Dark Blonde. The waxy formula of this product makes it super easy to apply and can be used alone as it almost sets brows into place, so it doesn't need to be set with a brow mascara. My only slight issue with this is the colour. It is good if I want a more natural brow look but recently I have been liking using something a little darker just to really make my brows more defined. I am considering picking up a slightly darker shade of this as I think the formula is really good and it is relatively long lasting.

If I want a more dramatic brow, yet still relatively natural looking, which as I said is something I have been doing a lot more as of late, I use an old Rimmel eyeshadow palette. Unfortunately I am unable to find this palette anymore, which is unsurprising as it is probably at least ten years old. It was my mum's before it was mine and it should have gone in the bin long ago... Anyway this is quite a good colour for me as it is quite red toned rather than grey toned like a lot of brow powders are and the red tones work better with my hair colour than the grey ones. This powder is really good as it stays put all day and it is relatively natural looking. I usually apply this with a Benefit Hard Angle/Definer Brush, which allows me to add definition and create a fuller looking brow.

Another powder that I use occasionally is the MAC Eyeshadow in Wedge. This is another powder with some warm tones in it, which as I have already said is perfect for me with my hair colour. The same applies to this powder as the Rimmel powder, it lasts really well and is great for creating the natural brow look.

Eyebrow Products

To set my brows in place and add a little bit of a tint I use the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara. I mentioned this in my 2014 Favourites post because I genuinely think that it is the best product for setting your brows. It is slightly tinted so it can be used alone or alongside one of the products mentioned above. It sets your brows into place without that crispy feeling a lot of brow gels leave and it lasts all day.

Occasionally I like to use the Benefit gimmeBrow to set my brows. This adds a little more colour than the Brow Drama and makes my brows appear a lot fuller so this is reserved for days where I want my brows to be the focus of my makeup look. However using this alone, with no powder or pencil creates a slightly more natural look that is perfect for those mornings where you hit the snooze button one too many times...

Eyebrow Products

Clean up

I don't do this step everyday, but occasionally I feel like I need to tidy up my brows by using some concealer. This step makes your brows look a little more defined and helps to tidy them up further. For this step I use my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer with a foundation brush, as it is flat and helps create smooth, precise lines. I simply dot concealer in about six different places around my eyebrows and blend it in carefully with the foundation brush, et voilà, your brows are done!

So there is my everyday brow routine. What products do you use for your brows?

What is on my makeup wishlist?

Like many other beauty bloggers, I have loads of makeup products on my wishlist. This list grows constantly as new products get released and I read positive reviews on blogs of products and instantly think I need it in my life! Anyone else get this? So today I decided to put together a little post on the products that are on my current wishlist.
The Lorac Pro Palette looks like it could be the perfect eyeshadow palette. It has 8 shimmer eyeshadows and 8 matte ones in an array of neutral colours that look perfect for both day and night. The only issue is that this product is near to impossible to get here in the UK, so I don't think I will be getting it any time soon.

The Hourglass Ambient Blush Palette is all sorts of pretty. The colours look gorgeous and as far as I have heard the Ambient Lighting blushes and powders look really gorgeous on the skin. At £56 it isn't cheap but since one blush is usually £28 I could probably justify it.

Charlotte Tilbury is one of those brands that I have never tried but I seem to be obsessed with most of her products. Her Powder and Sculpt brush is one of those products and it looks like the perfect addition to any brush collection and from what I have heard, it creates the perfect contour, even if you have no cheekbones at all, like me.

I am not a big fan of heavy foundations and the appearance they leave on the skin and I much prefer lighter formulas, so the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation seems like it could be the perfect foundation for me. It also contains SPF 15 which is great for protecting your skin against the sun and it is supposed to leave your skin looking dewy, natural and healthy.

Another Charlotte Tilbury product and this time it is the Filmstar Bronze and Glow. Amelia Liana uses this quite a lot in her tutorials and always raves about it. On Charlotte's website she says that the darker shade is the perfect colour to contour and add some sun-kissed glow to the skin. The highlight section of this palette looks like the perfect shade to add that healthy glow to the skin without looking to much like a disco ball!

Felt tip liner is the easiest way, in my opinion, to get that liquid liner look. Although I am getting better at applying normal liquid liner, I still like to use felt tip liners, especially in a rush and I have only heard positive things about the L'Oreal Super Liner Perfect Slim Intense. It has a super thin nib, which I think would be perfect for me as I don't really like super thick liner on me and it would be perfect for creating the perfect cat eye.

Charlotte Tilbury again, but her products sound amazing so can you blame me? Her Matte Revolution Lipsticks have been raved about in the blogging world and I really need to get my hands on at least one of these lipsticks. The colour range is fantastic, Glanstonberry seems like a shade that would be perfect for the winter months and is the one I would like to try the most. I think I will have to make a trip to Selfridges some time soon!

The final product on today's wishlist is the MAC Prep and Prime Highlighter. Since I have just run out of my under eye concealer/brightener I am on the look out for a new one. I've seen this being used in various different makeup tutorials on YouTube and it seems to be good for brightening the under eye area and covering up any dark circles, which is exactly what I need especially with the fact that I have just gone back to school and will be having a lot of early mornings and later nights..

What products are on your wishlist at the moment?

2014 Favourites: Makeup

Like many other bloggers I have decided to rummage through my makeup collection and find the products that I have been reaching for frequently throughout the past 12 months. So without further ado, here are my Favourites for 2014...

This year I finally found a tinted moisturiser styled product that was suitable for my skin and the finish I wanted and also had a shade that closely resembled my ghost like skin tone. The Bourjois CC Cream pretty much ticked all of those boxes. Although this isn't exactly a tinted moisturiser it is similar as it is a very lightweight product and even though the colour match is not perfect, with a bit of blending it usually looks pretty close to my skin tone. With a dewy finish and medium, buildable coverage this product has quickly made it one of my favourite products I own. (Full review here)

After reading many positive reviews about the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer I finally gave into the hype and forked over £22 for it, and I began to see why people loved it so much. It is relatively hydrating and isn't too heavy on the skin, so can be used to brighten up the under eye area without creasing and it is amazing at covering spots. Personally the best thing about this product is the fact that the shade is actually a match for my skin tone. Most drugstore concealers are too orange for me, but this has never appeared orange on my skin at all, so this is definitely worth picking up if you are also very pale. (Full review here)

Another NARS product, but this time it is their Bronzing Powder in Laguna. Having been on my wishlist for years, I finally picked this up in America and have used it everyday that I have worn makeup since. It adds colour and warmth to my face without being orange or shimmery and can also be used to lightly contour. (Full review here)

If I could only have one blush for the rest of my life I would have to say the Clinique Blushing Blush Powder in Iced Lotus. This is such a gorgeous product that adds colour to the cheek and highlights the skin with its subtle, natural looking shimmer. This product is so pigmented that I think it will last forever as you hardly have to use any product in order to get a natural blush look on the cheeks.

Maybelline has been my stand out brand for brow products this year because of these two products, Master Shape Brow Pencil in Dark Blonde and the Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara in Deep Blonde. Let's start with the brow pencil. What I love about this product is that it is quite waxy so therefore when you fill in your brows you are also almost setting them into place at the same time. You can get both dramatic, sharp brows with this product and softer, more natural looking brows as well, so it is very versatile and extremely easy to use. In terms of why I love the Brow Drama, it is probably that it sets my brows into place, whilst at the same time adding some colour as it is slightly tinted and it manages to hold my brows in shape without that crispy feeling like some brow products do. (Comparison of the brow pencil to a MAC one here)

The GOSH Velvet touch eyeliners are my favourite pencil formula that I have tried. They are relatively easy to apply and have amazing pigmentation so it is only right that my favourite eyeliner for 2014 is the Velvet Touch Eyeliner in Metallic Brass. It is my favourite colour out of the ones I own as it is a black-brown colour so it is slightly softer than a true black which I think suits me better as it isn't so harsh and it lasts forever without budging all day which makes it even better.

I have tried quite a few mascaras this year but my stand out one would have to be the Barry M Lash Modelling which I think they might have discontinued, boo. However over the last 3 or 4 months I have been reaching for this over my other mascaras as it is one of the few that doesn't smudge under my eyes as the day goes on. It also adds volume, length and separates your lashes with very little effort.

It will probably be no surprise to you that my favourite lip products are all nude colours. For lipstick I have the Topshop Lipstick in Saint which is probably as nude as a lipstick can get, that can make you look a little dead if your not light handed with applying it, but it is my most used lipstick of this year as it goes with any makeup look. Dramatic or barely there make up it really doesn't matter. Lipgloss wise I have to say that the Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in Take a Chance is my favourite and probably will be for ever more as it is such a gorgeous product. It hasn't got a sticky formula and the colour is perfect for both day and night, like the Topshop lipstick, and it can be worn alone or over another lip product. Overall a real winner.

Finally are my favourite tools of the year. Of course a MAC brush has to feature in here and this year I have been reaching for the 217 and 239 brushes constantly. I use them both every time I wear eyeshadow as they really do the job well. The 239 is dense enough that it picks up a sufficient amount of product and really helps you to pack on colour to the lid and the 217 blends colours out seamlessly and is also the best brush I have tried for the crease.

The Sephora Classic Multitasker Brush/Mineral Powder Brush is also among my favourites this year. Now although I am not entirely sure on which name is it's official name as on the brush it says Mineral Powder Brush and on the Sephora site it is called the Classic Multitasker Brush, I do really love this brush. It blends foundation and concealer amazingly well and is also pretty good at contouring my non existent cheekbones. My favourite thing about this brush though is how damn soft it is. Seriously if you are near a Sephora just go in and stroke it because it is one of the softest brushes ever. Maybe 2015 will be the year I buy more of Sephora's brushes. Any suggestions would be greatly received!

So there we have it for my makeup favourites for 2014. What were your favourite products from the past year?

Goodbye 2014 and New Year's Resolutions and Goals

New Year's Resolutions 2015
First of all Happy New Year! I can't quite believe that 2014 is already over as it only seems like yesterday that it started! Today I thought I would do a little round up of the past year and also share some of the goals and resolutions that I have for the New Year. I quite like New Year's Resolutions as it gives you something to work towards and I figured that if I have it written online for people to see it might motivate me to stick to them this year.

I think that 2014 has been one of my favourite years so far. One of my favourite moments from this year would have to be my trip with my family to California as it was an area of the world I had always wanted to visit and I think it has to be my favourite holiday I have ever been on! I also travelled to Spain and Italy this year which were also really amazing experiences and I got to learn a lot of interesting things about their cultures and histories. On more of an academic side of things I managed to take my GCSEs and get the results I wanted which was a fantastic moment for me. One of my other favourite moments of 2014 was when I turned 17 in September and started to learn how to drive, which has been something I have wanted to do for what seems like forever!

So although a lot more amazing things happened in the last year I want to move on to my goals and resolutions for the New Year.
  • Drink more water - This one is one of the more usual resolutions and it is something I should already be doing, but like many I struggle to actually drink the recommended amount for each day. However this year I am going to try and drink at least 2 litres of water a day and stick to it
  • Try and eat a little healthier - Again another typical goal but I would like to incorporate a little more fruit and veg into my diet and attempt to eat healthier snacks rather than reaching for a Dairy Milk bar because it is easy
  • Exercise more - Okay lets just say that most of my resolutions are quite typical. However ever since I have gone from a couple of hours of dance lessons a week to only half an hour a week I think I need to up the amount of exercise I do and start going to the gym again and maybe do more workout videos that are available on YouTube
  • Try to stick to my skincare routine - A little random perhaps but recently I have been really following a skincare routine, morning and night and I have seen an improvement in my skin so this year I would like to stick to my skincare routine and not just skip a step or two because I'm tired or can't be bothered
  • Redecorate my room - I have had my room painted purple since I was 8 and since this year I will be turning 18 I feel I might need to change things up a bit. I really would like to paint my room white and maybe change a few bits and bobs around a bit and generally make my room a little more grown up and a nicer space for me to spend time in
  • Get someone to design my blog - As much as I like my current design I would like something that looks a little more professional and have things that I can't put in my blog on my own since I'm not very good with HTML, it is all a bit beyond me. Any recommendations of blog designers would be really appreciated.
  • Continue to blog - I have really enjoyed blogging this year and although I haven't posted as much and frequently as I would have liked to, I have really enjoyed what I have done. I have taken part in more Twitter chats like the #bbloggers one and I also attended a teen Blogger Meet Up in  December. I would like to continue to post and even maybe attend a few more blogger meet ups
So those are my resolutions and goals for the year ahead, what are yours?
