Some Essie Polishes For This Spring/Summer

Essie Polishes For This Spring/Summer

If I could only use one brand of nail polishes for the rest of my life it would be an easy choice, Essie. If I go shopping the chances of me coming back with one five Essie nail polishes is pretty high! I love their formula, colour range and also lasting power so I thought I would have a look through my growing collection to see which colours would be perfect for the upcoming spring and summer months.

First up is the shade 'Go Ginza' which is a beautiful cherry blossom pink which is almost a pale lilac colour. It is a very simple, understated polish which would look amazing for the spring time when everyone is wearing pastels and pale colours.

Another purple colour, 'Play Date', a brighter colour than 'Go Ginza' but not neon or overly bright. I can see myself getting a lot of use out of this throughout the summer since it is will add a nice amount of summer colour to any outfit, which even in the summer, my outfits are usually not very colourful.

For a really classic and simple nail look or for when I want something really subtle I would have to use 'Mademoiselle'. This is one of those all year round colours as it is such a classic shade and I think this would be especially gorgeous during the spring months. It is also one of those shades that isn't too noticeable if it chips which is a bonus for me as I can never be bother to repaint my nails as soon as one chips!

'Fifth Avenue' is the perfect orange-red shade that I think is a more wearable way of wearing a red polish as it isn't so intense. Another bright shade to brighten up rainy summer days (that is, if you live in a country like England where is rains all year round).

'Bikini So Teeny' is possible one of the most well know Essie nail polishes and rightly so. It is a beautiful cornflower blue with a small amount of shimmer/glitter. This was one of my favourite colours last summer and I'm sure I will be wearing it a lot again this summer.

'Mint Candy Apple' is another one of the cult colours in the beauty blogger world and again I can see why. It the perfect mix of mint green and pale blue, so it is relatively unique in comparison to many other similar shades available. Another great offering for the spring months as it goes along with the classic pastel colours associated with this time of the year.

Finally 'Cute as a Button', which is probably one of the brightest Essie shades I own. This isn't necessarily an original or unique shade, but it is perfect for the summer. It is a pinky-coral colour that I would personally wear a lot on a summer beach or pool holiday.

What nail polish colours do you love for the Spring and Summer months?

The Five Product Face

You know the mornings where it is a toss up between an extra 5 minutes in bed or having nice makeup? Well those mornings are quite often for me with the early mornings for school and work and normally the latter loses and I hit the snooze button. However sometimes I still want to look as if I have made an effort, so for me it is really important that I have a super fast makeup routine which is as minimal as possible. Enter the Five Product Face. This is basically a super condensed version of my Everyday Makeup Routine, so therefore a lot quicker.

The first product I use is concealer, and as much as I love my No7 Instant Radiance Under Eye Concealer, it doesn't cover redness or spots so I typically would go for the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in a rush. It has the perfect consistency for spots and under the eyes and has amazing coverage.

Next up is bronzer since I am very pale, even more so at this time of the year, and my skin is naturally a little bit red/pink on my cheeks so bronzer is more important for me. Of course I am going to use the NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna to add some warmth and colour to my skin.

One of the steps that I don't like to miss is my brows. I fill them in with a dark brown powder from an old Rimmel palette which helps to add definition and colour to my very fair brows. I don't bother to set them as they are normally relatively good at staying in place after just brushing them through with a spoolie.

The penultimate step is mascara, another thing I don't like to skip. As I have very fair lashes naturally I like to make sure that I have a good coating of mascara on my lashes. Recently I have been using the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara and I have really liked it. It adds length, volume, it separates my lashes and the best thing is it doesn't fall off of my lashes half way through the day and leave a black mark underneath my lower lash line. So far so good.

Finally a lip product and for a really quick makeup look, I love using the Nivea Pearly Shine Lip Balm. This adds a subtle sheen to the lips which can be built up to more of an intense shine and the colour is a really pretty pinky nude.

I hope you enjoyed seeing what five products I would apply in a rush. What would you use if you needed a speedy makeup look?

Weekly Wishlist: Clothing

Since I'm going shopping tomorrow I thought I would put together a little wishlist of some of the things that I have been wanting recently.
First of all skirts. I really want to get some more skirts as I love wearing them but I don't have many of them. The River Island White Textured A-Line Skirt would be perfect for school whereas the Topshop Scallop Lace Pencil Skirt would be better for night time, especially with a crop top and some heels.

There is no denying it, I am obsessed with stripes so it is only right that something stripy is featured in this Wishlist. The River Island Cream Stripe Ribbed Racer Crop Top would be perfect for the warmer weather.

The black backpack is the Topshop Soft Perforated Backpack and is exactly what I have been looking for. Last year I really wanted a backpack for travel and general use and I wanted a black, 'leather' one, but most of the ones that I liked were £100 or more. This one is a lot more affordable at £36.

I love wearing heels, and especially love chunky heels because they tend to be more comfortable, or at least more comfortable than a lot of heeled shoes! These Topshop LILITH Suede Chunky Sandals look like they would be relatively comfortable and would go with summer dresses, skirts and shorts.

Jewellery wise I really like the Accessorize Aura Precious Stone Ring and the Layered Bar and Coin Pendant Necklace. The ring looks cute and dainty and it would add a small pop of colour to my usual monochrome outfits. I also really like simple gold necklaces as they aren't too bold and go with most outfits.

I hope you enjoyed this wishlist. What do you want to buy at the moment?

Review || Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner

The Kylie Jenner lip look thing has been pretty big over the last year or so and unless you have been living under a rock you will have seen it all over your social media, other blogs and the many tutorials on YouTube. I personally love to watch these tutorials as I really like her makeup looks so it only follows that I would go out and buy a product that would help me to try and recreate her look. Now I will admit, I am a little late on the bandwagon for this one but the truth is I could never get my hands on the real deal. According to several sources, her sister Kim included, the MAC Soar Lip Pencil is the product Kylie uses to create her fuller lip look, and whenever I went into a MAC store they were so busy I didn't have the energy to battle through the crowds around the lipstick counter, and to be honest it seemed to be out of stock almost everywhere because of the obsession with her look. So I was on the hunt for an alternative. Enter the Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob .

I first heard about this product through Amelia Liana and when she compared it to one of her favourite products, Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk, I knew I had to try it. She always raves about the Lip Cheat, so I thought that the Rimmel one had to be good.

So in terms of what this product is like, it is pretty amazing. I don't know how it compares to the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat as I haven't tried it but I can say that this is a really good lip liner, especially since it is only £3.99. It lasts forever as it has a matte finish so even after food and drink it still looks perfect and therefore doesn't need re-doing after every meal, great for us lazy girls.

The colour is a beautiful pink, that is just slightly darker than my natural lip colour, which is perfect for enhancing my lips and making them look fuller, à la Kylie Jenner.

Over all for £3.99 this product is definitely worth picking up. Have you got any other lip liner recommendations?

Travel Bucket List

Travelling is one of my favourite things to do. I love discovering new places, experiencing different cultures and trying the local cuisine. There are so many amazing places in the world, and so many places I would like to visit so I thought I would put some of them into a post today.

Image Sources: Left and right

After watching Gossip Girl repeatedly over the last few months I have wanted to go to New York even more than before. Just think of all of the shopping in Sephora that could happen! I would also love to go to Central Park, the Empire State Building, Times Square and to see the Statue of Liberty. Also think of the food. Waffles, bagels, pancakes, pizza etc. etc. I would love to go at Christmas or New Year and go Ice Skating in Central Park and see all of the amazing decorations that they would have around the city.

Image Souces: Top and bottom

Believe it or not I am an eighth from Trinidad however I have never been to the Caribbean. I'm not particularly picky with which Island I want to visit as they all look gorgeous, however I would love to visit at least one of them especially Trinidad though, to see were my Pappy (that's what I call my Granddad) grew up. The bottom picture is a picture of Barbados. I wish I was in the Caribbean right now!

Dubai is one of those places in the world that is so surreal that I would love to experience it for myself. To see some of the worlds tallest buildings in person would be pretty amazing, as well as the shopping malls, artificial islands and the beautiful beaches.

Most people that I know would love to visit the Maldives. It is such a beautiful part of the world that I would love to experience once in my life. The sea looks like the perfect place to go snorkeling or scuba diving and see the variety of sea life they have there. I'd love to stay in one of those little hut houses, that you always see in pictures of the Maldives. They look incredible and it would be amazing to wake up every day to the sound of the waves just outside of your door.

Okay, so not a specific country again but I would like to visit at least one of the Scandinavian countries. The thing I would like to see the most if I visited there would be the Northern Lights in Norway. Even though, as far as I'm aware, they aren't guaranteed to happen, to see them in person would be amazing.

I hope you enjoyed seeing where I would like to visit. Where would you like to travel to?

January Favourites 2015

January Favourites 2015

Hello everyone! I hope you had a fantastic January and have had a good start to February. I say this in every monthly favourites post but where did last month go? It literally feels like last week that we were celebrating Christmas and now we are in February. Crazy. Today, like many other bloggers have recently, I am going to share my January favourites.

First off is the Garnier Ultimate Blends The Sleek Restorer Oil. Possibly one of the longest names for a hail oil but it is also one of the best hair products for calming frizzy hair. It can be used on wet or dry hair, although I tend to use it on wet hair as then you have a smaller risk that you will have the greasy hair look which, lets be honest, no-one wants. It also can protect hair against heat of up to 230°C which is great since I straighten my hair after I have washed it so I need as much heat protection as I can get. This has really helped my hair to look less frizzy and it has made it look shinier, but not oily. I would recommend getting this if you have frizzy hair and find a lot of products do not work for you.

For skincare it's a product I've been using for a couple of years on and off, but it has helped my skin in the month of January, so it had to have a little place in this post. The Simple Kind To Skin Moisturising Facial Wash has helped my skin go to a slightly more blemish free state than it was before. I blame Christmas for this as my skin is very sensitive to food so I think the increase in sugary Christmas cookies and even more chocolate than normal caused my skin to break out more than usual. This is one of the few cleansers that I have tried that hasn't left my skin feeling tight after use which is another great thing about it and it helps to inject moisture into my skin, which is especially useful in the colder months of the year.

Makeup time now, my favourite and you might recognise all of these products if you have read My Everyday Makeup Routine post. The first product is the No7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow in Wheatsheaf . This eyeshadow has the perfect amount of shimmer that it can be worn in the day without looking too much like a glitter ball. The colour is also stunning and can be used alone or with other colours as well. It would make the perfect addition to any eyeshadow collection.

Under eye circles are something that I unfortunately suffer with and although I try to get at least 8 hours sleep every night, I still wake up looking like I haven't slept at all! Therefore an under eye concealer is a must have and so recently I have been reaching for the No7 Instant Radiance Under Eye Concealer in the shade 10. No7 have recently updated this concealer and it now comes in 8 shades so there is a better variety than there used to be and I still think the formula is really good. It has a light weight formula but still manages to have enough coverage to ensure your under eye circles are covered.

The NARS Virtual Domination Palette was one of my favourite Christmas present I received this year. For a more in-depth review of this product click here, but in short this is the perfect palette for all makeup enthusiasts as it has 1 highlight colour, 3 blushes and a bronzer and are all really beautiful colours for both day and night wear.

This month I have been reaching for two lip products constantly and they are the MAC Lipstick in Crème Cup and the Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in Take a Chance. If you have read my recent blog post you will have seen both of these products featured quite often, I can't stop singing their praises. Both products have a lovely finish and pigmentation and are perfect for wearing in the day with a neutral eye, something like the No7 eyeshadow mentioned above.

I hope you enjoyed this post, what were some of your favourite products from the month of January?

Review || NARS Virtual Domination Palette

NARS Virtual Domination Palette

NARS Virtual Domination Palette
When I unwrapped this on Christmas morning my hands were shaking. I had put this on my Christmas List but never expected to actually get, and when I did I could not have been happier. NARS is one of my favourite brands, with a few of their products featured in my Everyday Makeup Routine so of course I was eager to try this particular palette and might I add, the packaging is just beautiful. It would probably be worthy of 100 heart eyed emojis...

Now although this product is no longer available in store as far as I'm aware, I thought I would still review it as some of the shades in this palette are available as individual blushes/bronzers so I think it it still could be beneficial to some of you.

There is 1 highlight colour Miss Liberty, 3 blush colours Sex FantasyDeep Throat and, Final Cut and 1 bronzer in Laguna. The only product I had used before was Laguna (read my review here) which I loved so was so excited to finally own some of the NARS blush powders, since I had heard such good things about them.

And they have certainly lived up to their expectation. The first thing I noticed when I applied the blushes was how pigmented they were. You hardly need any product to get a naturally flushed look on the cheeks which means this palette should last for a reeeeaaally long time.

In terms of how they look on the skin, they are not overly powdery looking and appear as natural as powders can look on the skin and they last, for me, for most, if not all of the day, bearing in mind I put my makeup on at 7:30am and it lasts usually until about 4 or 5pm. My only issue with the shades is Miss Liberty because it isn't a shade I think is suitable for during the day since it has quite a lot of shimmer in it, but it could be better for night time or maybe as an eyeshadow.

Overall I would really recommend NARS Blushes and at Christmas, if NARS release a blush palette I would recommend adding it to your wishlist.

Have you tried any NARS blush products?
