Four Days in Amsterdam: Part Two

Four Days in Amsterdam: Part TwoHello everyone! Hope you had a good weekend and a good start to your week. Today's post is carrying on from Friday's post, all about my trip to Amsterdam. Today I will be telling you all about days three and four of my trip.

Four Days in Amsterdam: Part Two

Day three was a museum day which was probably the best place to be as the weather wasn't so great. It rained constantly throughout the day, either really heavy rain or a light drizzle, neither are things I enjoy. After enjoying a very yummy pancake for breakfast at Pancakes! Amsterdam (see this picture to see how yummy they were!) we headed over to the Rijksmuseum for a morning full of art. As I mentioned in my previous post, art isn't really my thing however there were some really good exhibitions including one on fashion which included some beautiful jewellery pieces and some amazing dresses. The other thing I loved was this clock. I really can't describe it very well so I would recommend that you watch the video of it to see for your self, but in short it is a grandfather clock and behind the clock face is a man who every minute rubs off the minute hand and draws it back on to the correct time. It was a really cool thing to watch so if you do go the the Rijks I would recommend stopping by that.

The next destination (after a quick lunch at a Spanish Tapas bar) was the Van Gogh museum. This was probably my favourite out of the two museums we visited that day as I am more interested in Van Gogh's art than any of the other artists featured at the Rijks. We only did a quick tour as my parents felt that we had done quite a lot of art that day and my younger brother probably couldn't cope with going around the whole museum, but we did get to see Van Gogh's most famous paintings. Other than eating my body weight in frozen yoghurt and pizza that was the last thing we did that day.

Day four, our last day, had much better weather than the previous day and was actually quite hot. After another pancake breakfast (I think I also ate my boy weight in pancakes whilst we were out there!) we headed through the little streets by the canals for a bit of shopping. Nearer the canals are more boutique styled shops and as you get further in town the more common high-street stores start to appear. As a shopaholic I really enjoyed this morning and, although I didn't buy anything, it was nice to see some more of Amsterdam and enjoy the good weather. Shopping was the only thing on our agenda for this day and by 2pm we headed back to the hotel to wait for our taxi to the airport.

I did pick up a few things at the MAC counter at the airport but you will see those later on this week.

I hope you have enjoyed these Amsterdam posts. Have you ever been to Amsterdam before?
