Makeup Storage || The Muji Drawers

Today is the first instalment of the posts focusing on my room redecoration, my Muji Drawer Storage. I picked up these Muji drawers before redecorating it and I now understand why every blogger seems to have these to store their makeup in. They are very simple, acrylic drawers that are very easy to stack, which is great if you have a large makeup collection. I uses mine to store my most used makeup and then in the large draw of my Ikea Malm Vanity I store other products that I don;t use as often but still use occasionally.

On top of the drawers I keep my brushes in this really cute white and gold mug that I picked up in Wilko a few months ago for £2 which I thought was a bargain, my MAC Eyeshadow palette and my NARS Virtual Domination palette. I also store my NARS Sheer Glow foundation as it is too big to store easily in the drawers, but it is a foundation I do often reach for on days when I need a bit more coverage. I also have my eos balm to moisturise my lips before applying my makeup.

In the first draw I keep my face products such as my foundations, tinted moisturisers, concealer and powders. This is an area of my makeup collection that is very small, hence why I can keep quite a lot of different products in one drawer.

The next drawer down is where I store my blushes, bronzers and the few highlighters that I own. Obviously these include my NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna, Clinique Blushing Blush Powder in Iced Lotus and the Sleek Contour Kit in Light as these are things I reach for on an everyday basis.

The third drawer contains my eyeshadows and I have to admit, this is probably my least favourite drawer and the one I go into the least. I have a lot of Clinique palettes that were limited edition/free when you spent a certain amount on Clinique products. The only thing I reach for on a daily basis in this draw is the Rimmel palette that I use for my brows, but the rest of the products in here are not used very often.

The next drawer is a very full drawer. It contains, eyeliners, mascaras, brow products and eyeshadow sticks. Obviously I have my Maybelline Brow Drama in this drawer, which I use everyday for my brows. I also have my two By Terry Ombre Blackstars, my Clinique High Impact Mascara and my L'Oreal Superliner Perfect Slim.

The final makeup drawer is my lip product drawer. I love this drawer simply because it is very aesthetically pleasing. I have my MAC Lipsticks in here along with my Bourjois Colour Boosts, Topshop Lipsticks and the Lipstick Queen Chinatown lip pencils.

The last drawer is a miscellaneous drawer of backup products, sample sized products and Blue Tack, a bloggers best friend.

I hope you enjoyed seeing part of my makeup collection today. Do you have any Muji storage for your makeup?

Summer to Autumn Lips

I know it is probably too early to be thinking about autumn and winter but with the weather recently you really can't blame me. I have been wearing wintery clothes, searching online for new autumn and winter clothing and it won't be long until I want to wear darker shades of lipstick and adding eyeliner back into my makeup routine. So I thought today I would share some of the lipstick shades that I think you can get away with wearing in the summer and as the autumn really starts to commence.

A new addition to my collection and I absolutely love it. It is quite a neutral nude that has a slightly glossy finish so is very comfortable to wear. Although it is quite neutral I don't find that it washes me out or makes me look dead like some very neutral shades do which makes it very easy to wear and it will go with pretty much all makeup looks.

If you want to create a bigger lips look or you prefer matte finishes this one is the one. As it is matte it stays on the lips for a long time and really doesn't budge. It can also be worn underneath all of the other lip products in this post as well as being worn alone.

I haven't stopped going on about this since I got this so I am sorry if you are bored of hearing about it but it is a gorgeous shade. Being slightly brighter than any of the other offerings this is perfect for when you don't want to accept that summer is over. It is slightly glossy so very easy to wear and it looks stunning with a heavier eye look and with a lighter, more summer appropriate eye look.

More of a neutral nude colour again here but this is perfect for all times of the year. Although if you are not careful you can look a bit dead with this shade but lightly applied it is the perfect everyday lipstick. This is perfect as it isn't a shade that is typical to a particular season so can be worn all year round but it is amazing for this awkward "is it summer is it winter" time of year.

A beautiful glossy nude which I love to wear over Eastend Snob, but can also be worn alone. This is great if you want a subtle, my-lips-but-better shade. I haven't reached for this one over the summer but I definitely will over the next month or so as it isn't anything dramatic and eye-catching, but it is perfect for an everyday choice.

What are your favourite transitional lip shades?

My Most Used Makeup Brushes: Eye

I love makeup brushes as I think a good makeup brush can transform any makeup look. Gone are the days of using those awful sponge-tipped applicators to apply my eyeshadow, I now have upgraded to the likes of MAC, Benefit and Real Techniques. I have 5 beautiful eye brushes that help me achieve the eye look that I want and I am going to tell you about them now.

Probably the most well known and loved brush in the makeup/beauty blogging community and rightly so. This is the perfect crease brush and blending brush (so much so that I am thinking about getting another one just for blending as I love it that much. It can also be used to sweep eyeshadow across the lid if you don't want anything too harsh. If I could only recommend one MAC brush, this would be the one. It was also my first MAC brush that I owned!

This is another blending brush, that can also be used to blend in concealer under your eyes. I have been loving this brush recently for blending out harsh lines from eyeshadow and also to apply really pigmented shadows if I only want a wash of colour. It is one of the softest brushes I have ever felt which is a definite plus!

Last MAC brush I promise, but they are great quality brushes so you really can't blame me for featuring three in this post! This brush is great at packing on colour to the lids as it is a flat brush rather than being domed like the other two. If you like the cut-crease look this can be quite good at creating a more solid line in the crease compared to the other two that would create a softer line. This would be a great addition to any brush collection.

This is my go to brush for brows and also for gel liners, or for applying eyeshadow as an eyeliner. It isn't too thick or too thin so it is perfect for both jobs and I couldn't be without it. Without this brush my brow game would not be strong at all (although I am still working on my strong brow game...). I don't own any other Benefit brushes but if they are anything like this one then they will be pretty good.

Although this is a face brush and I do use it for my base I use it to blend in under-eye concealer so I decided to include it in today's post. This is the best brush I have found to blend in under-eye concealer (other than the MAC  286). It isn't too tough on the skin but it still blends out all of the concealer so it looks like skin, but still ensures that there is coverage from the product. I absolutely love this brush and think everyone should get it.

What are you favourite eye brushes? I am always looking to add more to my collection!

Another Summer Makeup Routine

I know that I only did a summer makeup routine last month (you can read it here if you want to) but I have recently added quite a few products to my makeup collection and in turn they have become staples in my everyday makeup routine. So it only seems right that I do another summer makeup routine, right?

For base, or course I am reaching for the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue becasue, why wouldn't I? It is the perfect dewy base with a lightweight feel on the skin, yet it gives a decent amount of coverage to even out any unevenness in your skin tone. I have done a full review here is you want to know more about this product. As I have some serious under-eye circles at times I like to add a bit of the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer to conceal and brighten my under-eyes. As the summer can get warm (although not so much recently in the UK) I like to set this with my Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder as it still allows the base to look dewy, but gets rid of any unwanted shine. Of course I need to add a bit of bronzer, and for this I use the Sleek Contour Kit in Light to add some bronzer to the outer parts of my face and down my nose and then use the highlight shade on the tops of my cheekbones and anywhere else I want to highlight. Sometimes I will also add a blush and for this I would use the Bourjois Cream Blush in Rose Tender although I do sometimes skip this step.

For brows I have loved using the Sleek Eyebrow Stylist in Medium to add a bit of definition to my brows (although occasionally I do use a powder to fill them in instead). And of course I set them into place with the Maybelline Brow Drama.

Now for the eyes. I have been loving using the By Terry Ombre Blackstars recently and I have the shades Misty Rock and Blond Opal. I alternate between them as both can be worn alone, however from time to time I use them together to create a supper shimmery look, which I love! I skip eyeliner as it can be a bit heavy for the summer I find and go straight onto mascara. Recently I have been loving the Clinique High Impact Mascara however I have just bought the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara in the waterproof formula so if that is good I will start using that instead as waterproof mascara is perfect for summer. I will be posting a review of it soon.

For lips I have kept things really simple and have just been applying the MAC Lipstick in Lovelorn as it is the perfect everyday lip shade for me.

What are your favourite summer makeup products?

Review || Sleek Contour Kit

The Sleek Contour Kit in Light has been on my wishlist for ages now and for some reason I never picked it up. On a recent shopping trip I finally decided to get it and so today I thought I would review it for you.

The kit has two parts; the contour/bronzer shade and the highlight shade. They are both powders with the bronzer shade being matte and the highlight shade being slightly shimmery. The bronzer is a little bit too warm toned for me to use as a contour however I think that it is a really good shade for bronzing and adding a little bit of a sun-kissed glow to the skin. I have found that if I apply this on the outer parts of my face nearer to my hair line it acts as a subtle contour, nothing too harsh but it definitely adds a little bit of definition to my face without being a harsh, solid line.

The highlight shade however is perfect for its role. With the latest trend of strobing this could be the perfect product to add to your collection as it is a gorgeous pink toned highlighter with a small amount of shimmer running through it. Because it isn't glittery you can still get away with wearing it in the day as it just adds a subtle highlight, although of course you could build it up so that it is a little more obvious.

The lasting power of both of these powders is really good and it lasts all day on my skin so there is no need for touch-ups throughout the day which is great. However if you were to need to do touch ups then there is a big mirror on the inside which makes touch-ups that bit easier.

Overall I am really happy that I picked this product up as it has been the perfect addition to my makeup collection. Next on my Sleek wishlist is their blushes and one of their eyeshadow palettes as they also look gorgeous.

Have you tried this product before?

July Favourites 2015

Hello everyone! I hope you have had a good weekend and your Monday is off to a good start. August will hopefully be like July in terms of my blog as I am planning to continue posting every weekday. So as my first post of the month I thought I would do my favourites from July.

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue
This has to be my all time favourite base. It is the perfect lightweight, dewy base that is great for hot summer days and also for good skin days. I love how it is very dewy yet it doesn't look oily at all on the skin. It simply makes your skin appear healthy which is my favourite finish for a base product. It is also very long-lasting on the skin even on hot days. I have done a full review of it here if you fancy a read of that.

Sleek Contour Kit in Light
I love bronzers as I am very pale and without it I look a little bit too ghost like, not really the look I want. Even though this product is a contour product I personally find it a little bit too orange/red toned to be used for a precise contour but to add a little bit of a bronze and add a little bit of shape to the face this is the perfect product. The highlight shade is also a gorgeous slightly pink toned highlight that I find works really well with my pale skin and it isn't too obvious. A full review of this will be coming sometime in the week.

By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock
This has been my go to eye shadow colour ever since I bought it. It is a beautiful purple toned shade that I find works well on its own or with other colours. The lasting power of this is amazing and it doesn't crease even on really hot days.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Make-up Removing Micelle Solution
I decided the other day to try and stop using face wipes and instead use Bioderma to remove all of my makeup before properly cleansing my skin and I have to say my skin has improved a bit since I have stopped using face wipes. I know everyone always says that face wipes are not good but they were quick, easy and cheap so I loved using them but Bioderma definitely does a better job. I only have the mini version that I picked up in Paris but I am planning to buy a big bottle of it as I think it does a really great job at removing makeup and cleansing the skin. This product is definitely worth the hype.

MAC Lipstick in Lovelorn
I mentioned this lipstick in this post and ever since I got it I have been obsessed with wearing it. It is the perfect everyday shade so I have been wearing it a lot recently. It is a pinky-neutral shade that I find very easy to wear and the lasting power of this lipstick is actually really good considering it has a slightly glossy finish so it doesn't require too many touch-ups, aka perfect for me as I always forget to do touch-ups!

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick By Kate Nude Collection in 45
Another nude lipstick but hey, a girl can never have too many nude lipsticks right? This is a nude shade with a bit of pink in it but nothing to baby pink and equally it isn't too brown toned that it makes me look dead. The finish of these lipsticks is not too matte and not too glossy, the perfect finish as it isn't too drying but it lasts for a while on the lips. I really want to try a few more shades from this collection because I absolutely love this one.

Real Techniques Setting Brush
The final favourite for this month is the Real Techniques Setting Brush. I have absolutely loved using this to blend out my concealer, both under my eyes and on any other blemishes and it really blends things out so there are no harsh lines but it also doesn't take all of the product off like some brushes. I know it is a setting brush but this is amazing at blending!

I hope you enjoyed this post! What were your favourites from last month?
